Talking about the experience of planting loquat in the pilot greenhouse, Xu Xuebing opened the conversation.
In 2005, Xu Xuebing returned to his hometown to start a business, and transferred land in Wengong Town to plant open-air loquats, accumulating a lot of planting experience. In 2023, Xu Xuebing, who is optimistic about the development prospects of loquat, will transfer 110 acres of land in the Gufo community to pilot the development of greenhouse loquat planting.
"The development of agricultural modernization is an inevitable trend, and our loquat planting has also gone from the traditional 'relying on the sky to eat' to now relying on science and technology 'empowerment'. Xu Xuebing said frankly that greenhouse planting can hang predatory mites on the trunk of trees, and use the method of "insects eating insects" to achieve biological control, which greatly reduces the use of pesticides.
It is reported that Wengong Town is the "hometown of Chinese loquat", loquat planting history has been more than 100 years, in 2010, Wengong loquat was protected by the Ministry of Agriculture of China Agricultural Products Geographical Indications. After years of development, at present, the loquat of Wengong Town and the pear of Caojia Town have initially built a fruit regional pattern of "southern pear and northern loquat" in Renshou County, and the loquat planting area has reached more than 50,000 mu, becoming the largest loquat production base in southwest China.
According to the relevant person in charge of Wengong Town, in order to continue to polish the "Renshou Fruit" - Wengong loquat golden signboard, the town continues to promote new technologies for loquat cultivation and management, increase variety improvement, carefully cultivate characteristic products, and improve the quality of loquat through measures such as agricultural technology training, demonstration site promotion, and demonstration household promotion.
Promoting the cultivation of loquat in greenhouses is one of the effective local measures.
"Greenhouse loquat can not only effectively avoid the damage caused by meteorological disasters and birds and insects, and improve the yield and quality, but also mature earlier and higher than the open loquat, and truly multiply the benefits. Xu Xuebing introduced that due to the good taste and early listing, merchants are taking the initiative to purchase door-to-door, and the sales are not a problem at all, and the wholesale price can reach 10 to 25 yuan per catty.
In the next step, Wengong Town will continue to adopt the "online + offline" model to further expand loquat sales channels, rely on various festivals and activities such as loquat picking season, and promote the formation of a new business format of integrated development of food, housing and tourism, so that the loquat industry can benefit more people.
