Remnants of the Great Water Law (1919)
The Imperial Gardens of Western Beijing were burned down by the British and French forces in 1860 and have been in a state of decay ever since, but the Qing court still maintained its management of the Three Mountains and Five Gardens. During the period of the Republic of China, the rule of warlords, the invasion of Japanese invaders, and the turbulent political situation brought greater disasters to the three mountains and five gardens, and a large number of cultural relics were robbed and stolen, especially the Old Summer Palace was almost razed to the ground. This lecture will introduce the cultural relics of the three mountains and five gardens in the Republic of China period one by one, so that everyone can have a more detailed understanding of the three mountains and five gardens in the Republic of China.
