Maoming is known as the hometown of lychees, with a history of more than 2,300 years of lychee cultivation. Tang's "Beihu Lu" recorded: "The beauty of southern fruits has lychees...... Its high pan is the best. Gaozhou and Panzhou are now Maoming, which are rich in "Lizhong Jiaguo". The planting area of lychees in Maoming is stable at about 1.4 million mu all year round, and one out of every five lychees in the world is produced in Maoming.
