The college entrance examination in 1985 was a huge challenge for me. I come from a remote rural area, and the conditions for going to school are very difficult. However, I did not give up my desire and pursuit of education because of this. I studied hard, but when it came time for the college entrance examination, I faced the blow of failure, and I failed with a low score.
When I returned to my hometown helplessly, a girl from the same village, Xiaofang, quietly stuffed me with a note. Her eyes were warm and her smile was encouraging, giving me a hint of warmth and comfort. I opened the envelope and found an article inside that encouraged and guided me forward.
The note tells the story of Xiaofang's setbacks and difficulties, but she never gave up. She believes that everyone has the opportunity to change their destiny, as long as they work hard. She recounts how she chose a different path and succeeded. Her words seemed to light a light in my heart, and I felt a spark of hope.
Excited, I decided to re-examine the trajectory of my life. I understand that the gaokao is just a short journey in life, and I shouldn't be forever immersed in sadness and self-pity because of a single failure. I should face the challenges positively and find a new way out.
So, I started to replan my life. I signed up for some vocational training courses and learned some practical skills. At the same time, I also strive to overcome my own shortcomings and improve my cultural literacy. I spend a lot of time reading every day and learning about different fields.
Even though I didn't go to college, I didn't give up on my quest for knowledge. I started a modest job, but I still stuck to my dreams. In my spare time, I am self-taught and actively participate in various training and learning opportunities. I believe that as long as I persevere, I will be able to surpass myself and achieve my dreams.
After years of hard work, I have finally achieved some success in the workplace. I was given the opportunity to be promoted, and I had a better income and living conditions. When I look back, I am deeply grateful for that note and for the hope and support that Xiaofang gave me.
I understand that life isn't always easy, but we can't be defeated by failure. Every setback is an opportunity to grow in life, and we should draw strength from it to move forward. It was because of that note that the trajectory of my life was changed, and I found a new direction and motivation to realize my own value.
I hope that through my experience, I can encourage more people to defy setbacks and persevere in their dreams. No matter how difficult it is, as long as we believe in ourselves and make unremitting efforts, we will be able to change the trajectory of our lives and create our own brilliance.
