Who Luo Zhuoying is, many people will feel unfamiliar. Although his name is not as well-known as Xue Yue, Du Yuming and others, he was a very important general of Chiang Kai-shek in the Kuomintang army system back then.
At the age of seven, Lo Cheuk-ying began his studies at a private school in the countryside and graduated from the local government school in 1914. The following year, he entered Tai Po Secondary School for further study. From an early age, Lo Cheuk-ying had a soft spot for poetry and ancient literature, and he spent a fulfilling period of study at Tai Po Secondary School until he graduated from secondary school. After that, he also briefly served as a teacher, imparting knowledge to his students.

Luo Zhuoying chose to join the army in 1918 and went north to participate in the examination of Baoding Military Academy, although he failed for the first time, but the next year he was successfully admitted to the eighth artillery department of Baoding Military Academy. During his time at the military academy, he met Chen Cheng, the noble man in his life, and the two formed a deep friendship. Therefore, Luo Zhuoying later became the main backbone and think tank of Chen Cheng's faction.

Luo Zhuoying is not only Chen Cheng's right-hand man, but also the think tank of the civil engineering department, and his status is second only to Chen Cheng. Whenever Chen Cheng was promoted to a high position, Law Cheuk-ying would succeed him in his previous position. As a result, he enjoyed great prestige in the 18th Army, as well as in the civil engineering department as a whole. Once Chen Cheng is not there, he must be the only person to order the "civil engineering department".
Due to Luo Zhuoying's close relationship with Chen Cheng, he was also highly valued by Chiang Kai-shek. Chiang Kai-shek was based on the Whampoa Military Academy, and paid special attention to the troops led by Chen Cheng, Luo Zhuoying and others, as his first cronies. Luo Zhuoying was valued by Chiang Kai-shek for his outstanding ability and intelligence.
Complete victory in the Battle of Kamigao
After 1937, the anti-Japanese national united front was formed, and although the Japanese invaders gradually encroached on the country, their life was not as smooth as they preached. After the defeat of the Changsha Campaign, the Japanese army deeply felt that it was necessary to first eliminate or drive away the Kuomintang field troops in the areas of the Ganjiang River and the Fuhe River valley, and clear the obstacles, so that they could directly attack the right side of Changsha and open up the Guangdong-Hankou Railway, so that they launched the Poyang Lake Sweeping War in March 1941.
The sweeping force, consisting of the 33rd and 34th Divisions of the Japanese Army, the Ikeda Mixed Brigade, and the 3rd Flying Regiment under the command of Major General Endo, dispatched more than 40,000 troops, more than 100 planes, and more than 40 tanks to attack the command center of the 19th Group Army in three directions. The invincible Japanese invaders never imagined that the Kuomintang troops, who usually looked like stragglers, would let them sink in this place.
Luo Zhuoying commanded Liu Duoquan's 49th Army, Li Jue's 79th Army, Wang Yaowu's 74th Army, and Li Liangji's division of the 72nd Army, which rushed to reinforce them, with a total of more than 60,000 men.
In this battle, the Japanese 34th Division was almost completely annihilated, and the infantry commander of the division, Major General Tonaga, was seriously wounded to death. According to the war report at the time, the Japanese army was killed and wounded more than 24,000 people and 72 were captured. Luo Zhuoying was awarded the Order of the Blue Sky and White Sun for this service. It is worth mentioning that although this war was inseparable from Luo Zhuoying's strategic command, the strong combat effectiveness of the 74th Army led by Wang Yaowu impressed Chiang Kai-shek.

A deplorable expeditionary force
The Japanese invaders, ambitious and greedy, had been mired in the quagmire of the Chinese battlefield, but they still wanted to take all of East Asia into their pockets. In the face of such a rampant Japanese army, the United States, Britain and China joined forces to form a joint army, vowing to fight it to the end.
On April 2, 1942, the Supreme Military Council of the Kuomintang appointed General Luo Zhuoying as the commander of the first route of the expeditionary force, under the command of General Stilwell and the commander of the British Pacific Theater (this arrangement also ultimately led to the defeat of the Triple Alliance). After several confrontations and contests with the Japanese army, the Chinese, American and British forces decided to start a life-and-death battle with the Japanese army near Wacheng. However, they failed to pay sufficient attention to the defense of Taunggyi and other places, the main road to Lashio, and instead adopted the strategy of waiting for the Japanese army to attack Wacheng.
However, instead of adopting the tactics of frontal assault, the Japanese army adopted a roundabout tactic, dividing their troops into two routes, one to feint at Wa Cheng and the other to attack Taunggyi. After occupying Taunggyi, and learning that the Rabe army was massed in Wa Cheng, he quickly mobilized mechanized troops to storm Lashio. When the two generals, Stilwell and Lo Cheuk-ying, learned that Lashio was in an emergency, it was too late to dispatch troops to the rescue. On the 28th, Lashio was lost, and Wacheng immediately fell into the predicament of being surrounded.
The two generals, Stilwell and Luo Zhuoying, woke up from a dream and hurriedly ordered all their troops to retreat in the direction of the Irrawaddy River, and urgently supported Ba Mo and other places, trying to stabilize the rear first and then try to forge ahead. However, it was too late, and after occupying Lashio, the Japanese army continued to advance rapidly along the eastern front, and on May 3, they took the important town of Wan on the Sino-Burmese border in one fell swoop, and quickly launched an attack on Moba and other places. Under the fierce offensive of the Japanese army, the border town of Tengchong fell.
At this point, the retreat of the 100,000 Burmese troops was completely cut off. On May 1, two generals, Stilwell and Luo Zhuoying, reluctantly ordered the abandonment of Wacheng and began a great retreat. The whole army was forced to abandon its vehicles and baggage, break through the Japanese blockade line, enter the inaccessible mountains, and pass through the primeval forest.
A part of the army returned to western Yunnan with great difficulty in early August, while General Luo Zhuoying's commander's headquarters and the new 38th Division passed through Bamanke, Mankan, Homerinn, and southern Thailand, and finally entered India. The 100,000-strong army that entered Burma suffered heavy losses, as many as more than 50,000 people, two-thirds of whom died during the retreat. The commander of the 200th Division, General Dai Anlan, was seriously injured and could not receive timely medical treatment, and his heroic death is deplorable.
After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Luo Zhuoying also presided over the confrontation with the People's Liberation Army for a period of time in the Northeast. Under the choice of the general trend of history, no one can stop the pace of the times. Luo Zhuoying was still helpless in the face of the People's Liberation Army in the northeast, so he could only follow Chiang Kai-shek to Taiwan. In 1961, a generation of famous generals who had dominated the world finally ended up dying in a foreign country, I don't know if it was lucky or unlucky.
