Mao Yi (12th century AD) [Southern Song Dynasty] Kunshan (now Jiangsu), a native of Pei (now Pei County, Jiangsu), the year of birth and death is unknown. Filial piety (1165-1173) between the painting academy to be edicted, the painting feathers, flowers and bamboo, especially can be rendered, as if want to fly.
Li E's "Catalogue of the Southern Song Dynasty Academy" volume 4 records his paintings, including "Durian Branch Yellow Bird", "Lotus Pond Willow Swallow", "Gathering Birds", "Yellow Oriole Green Picture", "Heron Picture", "Three Friends Picture", "Opposite Pine Picture", "Willow Apricot Mountain Bird Picture", "Camellia Double Bird Picture" and so on. The hand-me-down works have the volume of "Cattle Husbandry", paper, ink pen, 26.2 cm in length, 73 cm in width, depicting the vivid scene of smoke willow flat hill and shepherd boy herding cattle. There are poems inscribed by Emperor Qianlong on the painting, and then there are nine inscriptions such as Fan Xiande, Chi Tingrui, Jin Xin, etc., which were once collected by Liang Qingbiao and Qing Neifu, and the book of "Shiqu Baoji Continuation" is now in the Palace Museum; Father Mao Song, good at painting flowers and birds in the four seasons, the hand-me-down work "Ape Map" is now in the collection of Manshu Temple in Kyoto, Japan.
