In fact, although the design of the Ideal MEGA has been controversial, this design shape can also be seen on other bodies, such as the Hyundai STARIA.
The Hyundai Staria hybrid model has been unveiled in the Korean market, with a starting price of 34.33 million won for the cargo version and 36.53 million won for the passenger version, respectively. The new model is expected to be sold in the domestic market as soon as the second half of this year, with the main competitors including models such as the Buick GL8 and Denza D9.
Judging from the design of this car, it is highly similar to MEGA, especially the front face, which is a very futuristic bullet design, much like a high-speed rail, the same MPV model, the length, width and height of the Staria fuel version are 5253/1997/1990 mm, and the wheelbase is 3273 mm, positioning it as a medium and large MPV. In comparison, the length, width and height of the ideal MEGA are 5350mm, 1965mm, and 1850mm, respectively, and the wheelbase is 3300mm, which is a little larger than the Staria fuel version.
The sides are still traditional MPV styling, up to square, while the side design near the rear is a little more restrained and traditional than the MEGA, with a straighter roof transition, leaving better headroom for third-row passengers. At the same time, such a design is a little less controversial than MEGA. In addition, from the side, elements such as double-sided sliding doors and low-drag wheels are not absent.
The rear part of the car, compared with the MEGA, is also a little more traditional, much like the common van in China, with a square styling design, the roof is equipped with a small-sized spoiler, and the long tail light groups are longitudinally distributed on both sides of the tailgate.
In terms of interior design, Hyundai STARIA is also a more conventional interior styling design, suspended full LCD instrument panel + 10.25-inch central control screen, barely adding some sense of science and technology to the car, four-spoke multi-function steering wheel design, the shape is more chic, does not use the traditional shift knob, but the electronic button shift mechanism, the air conditioning outlet adopts a through-type design, and the overall interior atmosphere is not much about science and technology, but it is warm and comfortable.
It is worth mentioning that although the size of this car is not very large, it is a little smaller than the MEGA, but it can be designed with up to 11 seats, and there are also 9 or 7 seats to choose from, while the cargo version can be available with 3 or 5 seats, which is full of practicality.
In terms of power, the Hyundai STARIA hybrid version is equipped with a hybrid system composed of a 1.6T engine + electric motor, of which the maximum power of the engine can reach 178 horsepower, the peak torque is 265 Nm, the maximum power of the motor can reach 72 horsepower, the peak torque is 304 Nm, the comprehensive maximum power of the system is 242 horsepower, the peak torque is 367 Nm, and the transmission is matched with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Hyundai STARIA hybrid model has been officially released in the Korean domestic market, of which the Cargo version (cargo version) starts at 34.33 million won, about 185,000 yuan, and the Tourer version (passenger version) starts at 36.53 million won, about 197,000 yuan, which is about one-third of the MEGA.
On the whole, although the front face design is similar, the overall positioning of Hyundai STARIA is lower, and it is more inclined to practical freight and passenger needs, and it is worth mentioning that Hyundai STARIA was first exposed in 2021.
