When an energetic person who loves to travel,
Forced to be in one
Autumn and winter are spent in areas with very short daylight,
What should he do?
This one is located in the center of Warsaw, Poland
The penthouse of a century-old apartment building,
With highly creative craftsmanship
And the abundance of colors gives the answer.
Katarzyna Baumiller is a Polish interior and homeware designer who blends craftsmanship with a passion for creativity, and loves to experiment with common forms.
Located on the top floor of a century-old apartment building in the heart of Warsaw, this 53㎡ one-bedroom apartment overlooks a nearby house through a window. The building retains the original steel-wood staircase and antique elevator shaft, but the apartment itself doesn't have many old elements worth keeping.
When designer Katarzyna met the owner for the first time, he was so clear about what he wanted from the home: "I have lived in Warsaw, Poland and many other countries. I want this home of mine to be as lively and dynamic as I am, with a different kind of whimsy. ”
The curtains and sofas in the living room have been redesigned by Katarzyna Baumiller, the coffee table is in vintage furniture, the armchairs are by Vitra, the white spherical chandelier is from Embassy Interiors, and the wall sconces are from Missaliance.
Designer Katarzyna Baumiller decided to add something modern and completely detached from the building's original style: "I follow the principle that it is better to create from scratch than to renovate the old style. ”
In Poland, the days are short and the skies are always grey, and it is clear that autumn and winter in Warsaw can be difficult for a homeowner who particularly likes to travel to sunny and colourful places.
The curtains, cabinets and mirrors in the bathrooms were designed and custom-made by Katarzyna Baumiller.
Therefore, in the color matching of the apartment, the designer playfully hints at the fun mood of breaking the original rules with colored door frames and various color blocks that are reflected at any time, hoping that this indoor space that helps to resist the autumn and winter blues can help the homeowner spend this time more easily.
The curtains, tables and mirrors in the dining room were designed and custom-made by Katarzyna Baumiller. The air conditioning ducts are cladding with pink ducts to conceal them. The chandelier above the dining table is from &tradition.
In addition to the clever color scheme, the designers also used a variety of vintage furniture to inject vitality into this 53-square-meter living space.
The wall lamps in the bedrooms are by Vivid Color Studio and the fixtures are by Verner Panton. The curtains, mirrors and beds were designed and custom-made by Katarzyna Baumiller.
Her imagination was unleashed in the design process, laying the foundation for the overall design through murals of different materials and colors, geometric patterns, and bold combinations of vintage furniture, and the joy of creativity and experimentation permeated the design, through various experiments to create this lively and dynamic apartment full of bold artistic lines.
The completed apartment is a perfect fit for the owner's spiritual needs, even when he is away from travel or work, he can stay energized.
