The United States intervened in the Sino-Indian border issue and assigned China's southern Tibet to India

author:Luo Fuqiang observation room

The move of the United States this time can be called Biden's favorite word - "unprecedented". The U.S. State Department officially announced on the 20th that Indian-controlled southern Tibet belongs to India. A spokesman for the US State Department said that the US side recognizes that "Arunachal Pradesh" is Indian territory and strongly opposes any unilateral act of violating the Line of Actual Control by military or civilian means and advancing territorial claims by means of invasion and occupation. The so-called "Arunachal Pradesh" in the mouth of the United States refers to the Indian-controlled region of China's southern Tibet. This move by the United States is the most typical example of "pulling the strings," which is equivalent to the United States "sending" China's southern Tibet region to India from the perspective of international diplomacy. This is an extremely insidious move. We will talk about this issue later, but I will first briefly introduce the ins and outs of the southern Tibet issue. This is a major border territorial dispute left over from the history of China and India, covering an area of about 90,000 square kilometers. The reason why it is called southern Tibet, that is, a very important part of southern Tibet, has been a part of Tibet since ancient times, and it is under the jurisdiction of the local government of Tibet.

The reason why southern Tibet is controlled by India mainly stems from three historical periods: First, during the British colonization of India, the border (line) between British India and China was pushed to the Himalayas by force and bribery, which is the so-called "McMahon Line". Second, from the end of the Qing Dynasty to the period of the Nationalist Government, China's internal political situation was chaotic, and it lost effective control over the Tibetan region, resulting in a "vacuum of state power". Third, in 1948, India took advantage of China's civil war and had no time to take care of its frontiers, and the newly independent India began to send troops into the southern corner of Tibet. On February 2, 1951, Indian troops occupied Tawang, the central city of Menjiao, and forcibly expelled the Tibetan administrations sent there. By 1960, the Indian army had taken full control of the Menyu-Luoyu-Xiachayu area south of the wheat line, which belonged to Tibet, China. In September 1962, India's ambitions were inflated and it wanted to occupy more Chinese territory, and it brazenly launched a large-scale attack on China in the east and west directions of the Sino-Indian border, seizing a lot of Chinese territory. In October, the PLA border guards organized a counterattack, and the fighting ended in one month. The People's Liberation Army (PLA) defeated the Indian army, killing and capturing more than 8,700 Indian soldiers and seizing a large amount of weapons, equipment and materials. On November 21, the Chinese government issued a statement announcing a ceasefire and withdrawal of Chinese border guards along the entire Sino-Indian border. Subsequently, the PLA also wiped down a large amount of captured Indian military equipment and returned it to India along with the 3,900 captured Indian officers and soldiers.

For India, this is a humiliating fiasco. Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who had been high-spirited and high-spirited before the war, fell into a great depression and died two years later. Regrettably, on the one hand, from the perspective of peaceful coexistence, China hopes to teach India a lesson and deter India from provoking no more provocations and "fighting a war to achieve 30 years of peace". On the other hand, heavy snow was approaching in November, and the PLA was unable to climb over the snow-capped Himalayas for logistical support. As a result, the PLA retreated to an area 20 kilometers north of the Chinese side of the pre-war Line of Actual Control between China and India. Unexpectedly, India did not think like China, and even sent troops to occupy southern Tibet again. In 1987, the so-called "Arunachal Pradesh" was announced, and at the same time, a large number of immigrants to the region were formed, which formed the problem of today's southern Tibet.

The Chinese Government has repeatedly reiterated that southern Tibet is China's sacred territory and hopes to resolve the dispute through negotiations. At this time, the United States announced that it belonged to India, which was a big conspiracy. Obviously, the United States has four aims: First, it is to use this as a petition to curry favor with and win over India, to display the United States' status as a "world policeman and judge," and to form an anti-China alliance to jointly confront China. Second, it will trigger more countries to follow the example of the United States, forming a "domino effect", and also declaring that Indian-controlled southern Tibet belongs to India, making it difficult for China to deal with it. Third, it is trying to provoke China, provoke and encourage India, and create a Sino-Indian war, and then the United States will coerce its followers to intervene in an all-round way to bring China down. Fourth, it is vainly trying to use the Sino-Indian dispute and war to divert China's most important strategic direction and plan, reduce the pressure on the United States in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea, and interfere with China's actions to realize cross-strait reunification. Obviously, China's strategic determination is difficult to shake in the conspiracy of the United States. The Indian Prime Minister, known as the "Modi Immortal", will not be stupid as Zelensky as a puppet of the United States, and the United States' attempt to provoke a war between China and India at this time is doomed to failure.
