A few days ago, Chrysler unveiled a new concept car, the HALCYON, whose name means "Happy Good Times". ACCORDING TO STRANTIS'S PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED PLAN FOR AMERICAN ELECTRIC VEHICLES, CHRYSLER'S FIRST ELECTRIC VEHICLE MODEL TO BE LAUNCHED IN 2025 WILL BE POSITIONED AS A "LIFESTYLE FAMILY CAR", WHICH IS LIKELY TO BE A PRODUCTION VERSION OF HALCYON.
As a four-door electric coupe with a fastback shape, the HALCYON is based on the STLA Large architecture. At the design level, it is difficult to see the elements of the Chrysler family in the past, and like most concept cars, the minimalist design has abandoned most of the decorative elements, so that it is hard to believe that this is actually Chrysler's handiwork. The front face adopts a continuous light strip and a large black grille, and the front windshield is extremely forward, making the front hood area very compact, which is more common in concept cars.
On the side, the typical coupe silhouette is combined with the double waistline design from the front fenders to create a swooping visual effect. However, the door opening method is quite creative, in addition to the B-pillar no door common in concept cars, the outer part of the roof can be in the form of a gull-wing expansion, which is convenient for passengers to get in and out of the car, and at the same time, it is also conducive to improving the headroom of the cabin. The rear of the car is also very clean, with no other design elements to be found, except for the continuous taillights, illuminated winged badge and two-piece diffuser.
The two-row, four-seater cabin has a futuristic design, with redesigned seat shapes that emphasize lateral wrapping in the front row and integration with the armrest area in the rear, and the backrest can be folded down to the trunk. The most conspicuous thing in the central control is the huge touch screen, the spokeless steering wheel is also very sci-fi, and the front windshield can also project AR-HUD full-screen display, providing rich interactive information for drivers and passengers. With the blessing of SmartCockpit and AutoDrive, in addition to the powerful intelligent cabin experience, it also has L4 autonomous driving capabilities.
By switching between different modes, the cockpit can provide different usage scenarios. For example, in the Chill mode of autonomous driving, the steering wheel, pedals, and central touch screen are all folded away to enjoy a more comfortable living space. Another example is stargazing mode, which changes the transparency of the roof glass and tilts the seats over so that passengers can lie in the car and watch the stars. Of course, AI can also provide users with customized experiences, such as personalized welcome effects, scheduling linked to weather forecasts, biometric emotions and corresponding audio broadcasts, and so on.
In terms of electrics, the 800V architecture and the blessing of lithium-sulfur batteries make the fast charging speed of HALCYON up to 64km/min. The new car will also integrate inductive charging, which is currently being developed in Detroit.
