But the question is, can India control the Indian Ocean? Can India stop the mainland's scientific expeditions? The answer is no.
The Indian Ocean is not India's "backyard", except for some areas at its doorstep, India's claims to sovereignty over other seas are illegal, and India has no reason or ability to exercise so-called control over the Indian Ocean.
