"Pirates" is a costume action film directed by Lee Hyun-hoon, written by Cheon Sung-il, and starring Son Ye-jin, Kim Nam-gil, Lee Kyung-young, and Yoo Hae-jin. The film was released in South Korea on August 6, 2014.

The film is set in the early days of the founding of the Joseon Dynasty and tells the story of a group of male bandits and a group of female pirates who left the land in order to catch a whale that swallowed the jade seal.

Pirates Plot

Before the founding of the People's Republic of China, there was a ghost whale invasion in North Korea that led to the theft of the national seal, which attracted people from all walks of life to seize the treasure, including the pirate leader Ruyue (played by Son Ye-jin) and the representative of the bandits who did not understand water at all, Jang Si-jeong (played by Kim Nam-gil), and the ministers of the DPRK and China also ventured to the sea.
