During the Tang Tianbao period (742 AD), Yuji was officially renamed Xiaoshan, and in 589 AD, Qiantang County was officially renamed Hangzhou.

Qin Shi Huang unified China in 26 years, and (221 BC) Xiaoshan was under the jurisdiction of Huiji. In the second year of the Western Han Dynasty, (2 AD), the county was established as Yuji, which was under the jurisdiction of Huiji County. In 222 AD, Sun Quan became emperor and changed its name to Yuji County, and in the first year of Tang Tianbao(742 AD), it was renamed Xiaoshan.
