The world's top 10 hiking trails Nepal ACT hiking guide

author:Wind Chaser

The ACT is known as one of the most diverse trekking trails in Nepal, and over the years, most of the roads have been opened (extending north to Muktinath ♂️ in the west and Manang in the east) and can be done in many different ways, from a short 9-day trip to a one-month journey around the entire Annapurna Hills.

About accommodation: Friends who have been to Nepal know that the routes in Nepal are very mature, especially ACT, many villages along the way, there is no need to worry about accommodation, and the accommodation cost is very low. Some foreigners don't have a detailed schedule, so they stop and rest when they are tired, and stay for an extra day or two if they like, which is very casual.

About meals: Nepal's mountain meals are mainly Western and Nepali food, most of which are fried rice, fried noodles, pasta, noodle soup, pizza, toast, etc., as well as the local N'n meal Dal Bha (which is probably the most eaten food seen on the road) Dal means beans and Bhat means rice. It is a traditional food in Nepal. It contains bean soup, rice, curry, potatoes. Stir-fry vegetables. Similar to a set meal, it is one of the staple dishes in Nepal, and you can refill the rice for free.

Directions: There are many ways to walk the ACT, but the safest direction is counterclockwise, so that you can gradually adapt to the high altitude environment when you get to ThorungLa (5416).

Traditionally, the complete trek trail starts at Besisahar and ends at Tatopani.

The shortest route currently starts at Manang (3520m above sea level) and ends at Muktinath, but be sure to acclimatise to the altitude when crossing the pass.

We now generally start from the eastern route, starting from Chame and ending at Jomsom, so it's more reasonable.

Transportation: The outbound journey is usually from Kathmandu to Besisahar, there are many Jeeps in Besisahar that carpool up the mountain. Return trip Jomsom by bus to Pokhara.

Best Season: Generally, the best (and busiest) months to hike the Annapurna Loop are spring and autumn. Not recommended in winter as the Thorung La Pass is often closed due to snow and is very dangerous. !️ !️ It is best to set off before 4am to cross the pass (in 2014, a snowstorm caused many people to die near the pass).
