On January 25, Railway 12306 sold tickets for February 8, setting a record for the highest single-day ticket sales of 20.901 million and 83.03 billion visits in a single day. On the busiest day, an average of 960,000 visits per second are handled. Shan Xinghua, deputy director of the railway 12306 science and technology innovation center, introduced that since the start of railway Spring Festival ticketing on January 12, a total of 230 million tickets have been sold, including 91.828 million tickets during the Spring Festival, an increase of 131% over the same period last year.
This year's Spring Festival travel is the first normalized Spring Festival travel after the smooth transition of the epidemic, and there is a strong demand for passengers to buy tickets and travel. It is estimated that the railway will send 480 million passengers during the Spring Festival transportation period, with a daily average of 12 million passengers, an increase of 37.9% compared with the Spring Festival transportation in 2023.
As the world's largest online ticketing system in terms of access and transaction volume, the Railway 12306 system has been continuously enriched and improved in terms of functions and services. In order to further facilitate the purchase of tickets by passengers and improve the quality of service, a series of new functions have been launched in Railway 12306 before the Spring Festival this year.
Pre-filling of Ticket Purchase Requirements and Train Ticket Reminder Subscription are new services that make it easier for passengers to purchase tickets. Passengers can set reminders in advance according to the ticket sales time, so that they can submit ticket purchase orders in time.
In addition, Railway 12306 has also launched a special area reservation and ticketing service for students and migrant workers. When students and migrant workers purchase tickets during the Spring Festival travel period through the special area, they can submit their travel ticket purchase requirements for more than 17 days (inclusive) before departure, and they can reserve tickets for March 5 at the latest.
In the Spring Festival transportation examination over the years, the waitlist ticket purchase is undoubtedly an important measure to benefit the people in the railway passenger service. This year, the waitlist function has been optimized and upgraded again. Passengers who have not yet purchased a ticket can use the standby function, which can add 9 passengers, 3 different dates, and up to 60 combinations of different trains and seats. If passengers choose to accept the new trains, the success rate can be further improved.
When there is no direct train or no ticket for the direct train, passengers can choose a transfer ticket on the 12306 App of the railway, and meet their travel needs through the transfer plan with remaining tickets. At present, 120 major stations have set up convenient channels for transfer in the station, and passengers can enter the waiting room without leaving the station to wait for the train.
In addition, Railway 12306 also provides air-rail combined transport, rail-water combined transport and bus ticket services, and when there is no direct train scheme, you can choose to travel in the way of "train + plane" and "train + car".
In order to create a civilized, orderly, warm and comfortable travel environment, the railway department has coordinated the use of EMU resources to expand the number of EMU trains providing "silent carriage" services to 72, involving Beijing-Shanghai, Beijing-Guangzhou, Beijing-Harbin, Shanghai-Kunming, Xicheng and other high-speed rail lines, so as to better meet the needs of passengers for a better travel life.
