From personal well-being and citizenship to economic growth, reducing inequality and social solidarity, the transfer of education and knowledge enriches human societies in many ways. It allows people to understand their own culture and participate fully in the economic and political activities of society. Through Education for All, people can fulfill their aspirations and find ways to improve their lives.

The theme of UNESCO's International Day of Education in 2024 is "Education for Lasting Peace". To respond to violence stemming from discrimination, racism and hatred, which fuels conflict and fuels new wars, we need to strengthen our commitment to peace through enlightenment and education.

Education plays a vital role in society. Education is a human right and a social responsibility. Good education disseminates knowledge and cultivates students' values, attitudes, skills and behaviours to become local peace practitioners. Lasting peace needs to be achieved through human rights, democratic governance, dialogue, solidarity and cooperation.

In order to fully achieve these goals, multilingual education is essential: the ability to read and write in the mother tongue, the ability to use multiple languages in depth and on a regular basis, including those that are frequently spoken in a given country, the daily use of different languages, the understanding of different cultures through the international common language, and lifelong learning. The use of multiple languages helps to develop international awareness and learn about the art and science of human coexistence.

In particular, we recommend learning the above mentioned in Esperanto. Esperanto promotes solidarity between people from different regions, mutual understanding and respect between peoples and groups. Esperanto opens the way to a vast cultural wealth that connects the peoples of different countries to the international community. The World Association (WAC) works hard for the peace and solidarity of mankind. We also unite with other organizations with similar goals. For example, since 1905, Esperanto has held an International Esperanto Congress every year. In 2024, the International Esperanto Congress will be held in Africa for the first time in Arusha, Tanzania.
