Eight civilizations laid the foundation for the glory of the Inca Empire

The Inca civilization, one of the three major civilizations in the Americas, originated in the Peruvian Andes and flourished in the 15th and 16th centuries AD, leaving behind a large number of world-famous historical and cultural relics.

Today, the reporter saw at the exhibition site that in order to clearly present the background and appearance of the prosperity of the Inca Empire, the exhibition is divided into four parts: the preface hall, the first unit "The Ancient Civilization of the Andes", the second unit "The glorious epic of the Inca Empire" and the tail hall, explaining the daily life, artistic achievements, spiritual beliefs and cultural heritage of the Incas, and tracing the Caral culture of the Andes from about 5000 to 3500 years ago, to the cultural replacement during the conquest of the Inca Empire by colonizers in 1572.

Based on the long and continuous timeline of the Andes, this exhibition selects representative artifacts of various civilizations in the region, so that the audience can clearly perceive the characteristics and achievements of each civilization. It is worth mentioning that although the Inca civilization and the ancient Shu civilization are thousands of miles apart, the ancestors of the two places have a common spiritual belief in sun worship. Therefore, spiritual beliefs such as sun worship and gold worship in the Andean region are also the themes of this exhibition, aiming to let the audience feel the wonderful collision of "harmony and difference" between ancient Shu and the Incas.

Professor Eleaza Crucinta, President of the Inca Museum of Peru and Rector of the National University of Cusco, who came to Chengdu for the first time, was full of interest in the culture of Sands. He told reporters that both the Sands and Inca cultures had sun worship. He hopes that through this exhibition, the Chinese audience can deepen their understanding of Peru and let more people understand the Inca culture.

In the exhibition, a gold mask from the Sican culture in Peru faces the gold mask unearthed from the Jinsha site, presenting the mask art common to ancient civilizations in the world. In addition, there are stirrup-crust vases that reflect the philosophy of Peru's ancestors, cat-shaped gold cloaks that vividly depict animal worship and ritual rituals, and Nazca textiles that have remained luster for more than 1,000 years...... All represent the eve of the prosperity of the Inca Empire and laid a solid foundation for the Inca civilization. Walking into the "Glorious Epic of the Inca Empire" section, the audience can see the faience wine storage jug as large as 1 meter high, as small as the tiny knots on the auspicious knots, the mysterious adult mummies wrapped in gauze, the delicate accessories such as necklaces and pins, and the elegant pottery decorated with various animal patterns and geometric patterns...... Both are the culmination of the high development of the Inca Empire in the fields of architecture, economy, and cultural beliefs.

Machu Picchu has been restored to its former glory

In order to give the audience a refreshing feeling, the design concept of this exhibition combines traditional and contemporary art elements. The exhibition hall is dominated by ancient pottery brown and fabric blue, supplemented by terraced green, sun gold and other colors, highlighting the Peruvian cultural background and cultural relics. On the exhibition wall, the stretching ridges of the Andes Mountains are abstracted into zigzag lines, and the traditional trapezoidal architecture of the Incas is decomposed into geometric shapes, in which the kaleidoscopic splendid Andean civilization is staged in turn. Walking through the exhibition hall, the Inca legends and gods on the exhibition wall, the huge Nazca painting projection on the ground, and the cloth exhibition wall highlighting the texture of the Inca fabric are all "small ideas" designed to fully mobilize the audience's visual, auditory, and tactile senses.
