Zhang Anle: The "innocent" person in the "Jiangnan case".

author:Drag racing in modern history

揭"江南案"内情

In 1984, Zhang Anle (White Wolf) had settled in the United States, and he was the "general leader" of the Bamboo Union Gang and the second person in the gang, and he studied business management at Stanford University in the United States.

Before Chen Qili, the leader of the Taiwanese Bamboo Union Gang, led gang members Wu Dun and Dong Guisen into a private garage to shoot Taiwanese writer Liu Yiliang (pen name "Jiangnan"), who was in exile in the United States, Dong Guisen settled in Zhang's house.

After the incident was exposed by the US media, Taiwan was forced by international public opinion to arrest Chen Qili and Wu Dun and put them in prison. Dong Guisen was arrested in Brazil and extradited by the U.S. government to New York for trial. In order to rescue Chen Qili, the white wolf in the United States released a cassette of audio tapes to American television, indicating that Chen Qili and his entourage were employed by Taiwan's intelligence bureau. It led to a deadlock in relations between Taiwan and the United States, and alluded to the mastermind behind Chiang Ching-kuo's son, Chiang Hsiao-wu. Under the pressure of the government and the opposition in Taiwan, Chiang Ching-kuo had no choice but to publicly clarify that "the Chiang family will not take over" and laid the foundation for the vicious struggle between the politicians of the palace faction, the powerful faction of the military, and the financial and bureaucratic factions in the future......

Heart to the mainland

The 62-year-old white wolf is temporarily living in Shenzhen. He still remembers that two days after the "Jiangnan Case", Chen Qili took Wu Dun and Dong Guisen back to his residence in Los Angeles, and Chen Qili led the white wolf to the hut and told the ins and outs. The white wolf only answered: "Be careful of being killed!" Chen Qili took out the "evidence" tape that caused an uproar. Why did the assassination of Jiangnan be hidden from the white wolf? The white wolf did not answer directly, he pointed to the study with his hand: "Tell me this." ”

In the cramped small study, hundreds of secret stories about the history of the Chinese Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China are stored: "The Centennial Record of the Chinese Kuomintang", "Revolution in the Middle Ground", "Selected Works of Mao Zedong...... White Wolf has been studying every day for nearly a decade, boasting that few people have the best views on the two parties, and he admires Deng Xiaoping most when evaluating generations of party leaders. He claimed that he had been interested in the mainland since he was young, and perhaps because of this, Chen Qili did not reveal the plan to assassinate Jiangnan.

In 2004, White Wolf Remote Control founded the "China Reunification Promotion Party" in Taiwan and served as the "president", advocating "peaceful reunification, one country, two systems". So far, the "Party for Promoting the Reunification of China" has recruited about 30,000 party members in Taiwan, and has set up about 30 party branches in various parts of Taiwan, of which about 20 percent are members of the Bamboo Union Gang.

How many ifs

"If I hadn't been a brother (to join a gang), if I hadn't had the 'Gangnam case', I would have been a university professor at most, and I wouldn't have done as much as I could do now. ”

There are as many ifs as there are contingencies of fate. If Dong Guisen and Wu Dun had not gone to shoot the target, they would not have been involved in the "Jiangnan Case". Zhang Menglin, a brother who also lives in Shenzhen, said that at first Chen Qili arranged for the killers not the above two, but when he arrived in the United States, he saw that the original candidate was not good at Xi marksmanship and was not enough to succeed, so he organized several suburban target shooting a month beforehand, and on the shooting range, Chen Qili fell in love with Dong and Wu.

If he hadn't fled Taiwan and been extradited to New York for trial, he wouldn't have died in prison — a federal court sentenced him to 20 years in prison, less than five years in prison, where he was killed by a Malaysian who lives on life. Chen Qili and Wu Dun were released after serving six years in prison in Taiwan, Chen Qili went into exile in Cambodia and died of pancreatic cancer in 2007; Wu Dun devoted himself to the film industry, and was a well-known "godfather" in the entertainment circles on both sides of the strait, "signed" Jay Chou, and produced the movies "Slam Dunk" and "Thorn Tomb".

It is said that Chen Qili entrusted the tape to others, not the white wolf. The white wolf was reluctant to talk about this "brotherly old matter" in detail, and Zhang Menglin explained slightly: "At that time, everyone was in the United States, somewhat seeking stability and self-preservation. After the release of the tape, the US federal court sentenced him to 15 years in prison, from the age of 35 to 45, and he spent 10 years in a US federal prison; in 1996, he was released from prison and returned to Taiwan, where he was arrested for another 25 years in the "anti-gang crime" case of purging the underworld, and then fled to Shenzhen, where he was still 11 years before the wanted expired.

"If I were a child of a military village"

In 1948, White Wolf was born in Nanjing, his father was a university professor, his mother was a middle school teacher, and his ancestral home was Hongtong County, Shanxi. On the first day of the Lunar New Year in 1949, the family began to flee, first taking a train to Guangzhou, but my mother temporarily changed her mind, threw all her luggage off the train, and took a ship to Hainan instead. The ship later stopped in Taiwan.

Because his parents were not military officers, the White Wolf family did not live in the military village, but squeezed into a temple dedicated to the "Emperor Baoshan" in Taipei. The temple gate is separated by two worlds: the "refugees" from the mainland in the temple are mixed with fish and dragons from the north and the sea, and they take care of each other because of their similar fate; outside the temple, the "people from this province" in Taiwan ostracize them, and provocations occur from time to time. When the white wolf was studying in the history department of Tamkang University, he had joined the Bamboo Union Gang.

"If there is such a person who can read in the military village, the other brothers in the village will protect him. It's a pity that I have to join the gang on my own, bastard", said White Wolf.

The white wolf has always been in the position of "general master" in the Bamboo Union Gang. He maximized the influence of the Bamboo Union Gang by helping smart, poor-born children go to college, who could become lawyers, prosecutors, and even judges. "There are some brothers, who are very ordinary mixed brothers, and later became major generals."

By the early 80s of the last century, the Bamboo Union Gang had developed into the largest gang in Taiwan, with more than 100,000 members and 20,000 core members. And enterprise management, the establishment of the "Tao Strategy Group", under the more than 20 enterprises, control more than half of the government projects, Chen Qili as the "chairman". Just when the Bamboo Union Gang was at its peak and intended to make a difference politically, White Wolf decided to go to the United States.

"At that time, I firmly believed that China's future was on the mainland. How do I get in touch with the mainland elite? I went to the United States to go to school with them. White Wolf, who received a master's degree in history from Tamkang University, applied for tourism management in the United States, and then transferred to Stanford University in the United States to study business management.

The hardest time

"The hardest time of my life...... White Wolf muttered for a moment, "was when I was just imprisoned in the United States." ”

At first, he couldn't stand the eyes of his fellow inmates - the most discriminatory crimes in American prisons were child prostitution, tainting witnesses, and drug trafficking, all of which were dishonorable crimes that could be easily "eliminated."

But his composure helped him to accept it all, and years later, looking back, it sounded like "enjoying" the experience: living in a two-person cell with a bathroom and a choice of coffee or tea for breakfast, playing tennis for an hour at 10 a.m. every day, then walking around the yard with a book and reading, and a few years later, becoming a prison librarian. Dong Guisen served his sentence in another prison, quickly conquered his fellow inmates with recklessness and bravery, and also controlled the prison baseball team, engaged in underground gambling, and the prison guards of the two prisons chatted and said that the white wolf was Dong Guisen's "big brother", but no one believed it.

During his ten years in prison, White Wolf earned two degrees in psychology and sociology, and he regretted two things the most: the prison canceled the master's program when he was serving his sentence; he spent too much time reading English books, which would be more efficient if he could read Chinese books. And in his heart, what did these long years bring him? He intended to restore the Chinese tradition. "After all, the Bamboo Union Gang only has the meaning of violence, but it has no reward and punishment power, and it has no public power. And the "Party for the Promotion of Chinese Reunification" has such a possibility.

At a banquet in Shenzhen, the white wolf announced: "The old mother is gone (I used to live with him in Shenzhen), and my filial piety is over." I plan to go back to Taiwan this year. He wanted to end the remote control and personally lead the "Party for the Promotion of Chinese Reunification." But the wanted warrant still has 11 years to expire, so won't I have to go to prison again when I return to Taiwan? "I can take care of people outside the prison in prison, and will I be afraid of going to prison again?"
