Produced by the Propaganda Department of the Guangzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, co-organized by the Guangzhou Liwan District Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau, and created by the Guangdong Music Troupe, the Quyi New Theater "Drinking Tea" will be performed at the Cantonese Opera Art Museum from December 29 to 31, 2023 for five consecutive performances.
"Drinking Tea" takes the novel stage presentation method of "Quyi New Theater" as the basis and overall framework of exploration, and adopts the elements of "intangible cultural heritage" such as Cantonese opera, Cantonese opera, cross talk, Cantonese music and rap, as well as the combination of Guangdong "intangible cultural heritage" items such as Cantonese embroidery and Cantonese cuisine, to explore a new way of expression of "intangible cultural heritage". Through small characters and small incisions, he writes about the water and soil, Lingnan scenery, and focuses on Lingnan culture, observes and describes local customs and people's feelings, writes about life, joys, sorrows, and sorrows, and writes about the humble and low-key and "vigorous" self-reliant Guangdong spirit.
This drama is based on the 70th birthday of "Lao Xiguan" Liang Zhiguang and his "golden wedding" with the "foreign daughter-in-law" Cui Xiuhao, and the couple decided to feast the neighbors to drink tea and celebrate together in the "Dexian Tea House".
"Drinking Tea" gathers a strong creative lineup in the province to create, with Cantonese cross talk master Huang Junying and famous gaohu player He Kening as artistic director, national first-class director Zhang Ling as chief director, national first-class playwright Feng Minyi, outstanding drama choreographer Zhao Guodong as screenwriter, composer and music producer Sui Xiaofeng as composer, outstanding young choreographers Zhao Guodong and He Lan as drama directors, young stage designer Zhou Hongzong as stage designer, and national second-class director Yang Hongbin as choreographer. In terms of actors, it gives full play to the advantages of the Guangdong Music Troupe, and is co-starred by outstanding young actors such as Zhang Yaotian, Lin Caixia, Wu Haijie, He Zhifeng, and a number of young performers.
In recent years, Guangzhou has vigorously promoted the "Quyi Inheritance and Development Plan", built the Lingnan Cultural Heritage Culture (Liwan) Ecological Protection Experimental Zone, and through the long-term adherence to the Lingnan Cultural Heritage Art Development Strategy of core protection, overall protection, and legal protection, it has pooled advantageous resources and gathered various forces to promote the continuous growth of Lingnan's excellent traditional culture and literary talents. It is expected to become a permanent repertoire of the Cantonese Opera Art Museum, a representative literary and artistic stage boutique that will help expand the potential of Lingnan's tourism consumption, and make positive contributions to inheriting the excellent cultural context of Lingnan and promoting the transformation of cultural benefits.
