"The Eve" is a TV series that focuses on the historical period between 1948 and 1949, and tells the fierce struggle and political rivalry between the Chinese Communist Party and the Kuomintang. Co-directed by Qi Jian and Wang Jun, the play brings together Huang Zhizhong, Wan Qian, Xie Junhao, Zhang Junning, Wang Kuirong and other actors, presenting a dynamic historical picture.
The initial chapters of the series focus on the impact of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China's proposal to convene a "Political Consultative Conference". This proposal intensified the contradictions between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party and led to the division of the centrists. In order to obstruct the holding of the CPPCC meeting, the Kuomintang even bombed Chengnanzhuang, where the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China was located, in an attempt to assassinate Mao Zedong and other leaders. Zhou Enlai sent a special envoy with a secret letter to invite Li Jishen and Shen Junru, leaders of the democratic parties in the south, to join the CPPCC. At the same time, the story also describes the tragedy of Feng Yuxiang's tragic death in a fire on the way home from a Soviet ship after exile in the United States. This part of the plot fully demonstrates the political strategy and military power of the CCP, as well as the internal and external difficulties faced by the KMT and the violent tactics they adopted.
In the second part of the plot, the focus shifts to the relocation and defense of the central organs of the Communist Party of China. The Kuomintang attempted to raid the central organs of the Communist Party of China with the help of Fu Zuoyi, in an attempt to destroy the core of the Communist Party in one fell swoop. Under the command of Mao Zedong, the CCP skillfully implemented the empty city plan, successfully evacuated Chengnanzhuang and moved to Xibaipo. The third episode of the TV series "On the Eve of the Founding of the People's Republic of China" focuses on the peace negotiations and decisive battle between the Chinese Communist Party and the Kuomintang. At the beginning of the new year in 1949, Chiang Kai-shek proposed peace in the hope of negotiating with the Communists, but the Communists rejected the request on a revolutionary stance. At the same time, the Communist Party successfully persuaded the leaders of the democratic parties, Li Jishen and Shen Junru, to support its leadership and jointly issued a joint statement. Mao Zedong met with Fu Zuoyi in Xibaipo and reconciled him through sincere exchanges. In addition, the Second Plenary Session of the Seventh Central Committee of the Communist Party of China deliberated and adopted the CPPCC proposal and put forward the "two imperatives" guidelines. This part of the plot shows the sincerity of the Communist Party for peace and the determination to fight, and contrasts the weakness and compromise attitude of the Kuomintang.
The fourth part of the series focuses on the establishment of the People's Republic of China and the defeat and flight of the Kuomintang. On September 21, 1949, the Communist Party convened the first Chinese Political Consultative Conference and formulated the national flag, national emblem, national anthem and constitution of the new country. On September 27, the Central Committee of the Communist Party issued the Organic Law of the Central People's Government and the list of government committees. On October 1, Mao Zedong proclaimed the founding of the People's Republic of China in Tiananmen Square and became chairman of the Central People's Government. At the same time, the Kuomintang was routed by the pursuit of the PLA and retreated to Taiwan. This part of the plot reflects the historical achievements and national pride of the Communist Party, as well as the historical mistakes and shame of the Kuomintang.
