A few days ago, Zhidian Travel learned that BYD founder Wang Chuanfu revealed in a speech at a dealer meeting held in Tokyo that the brand will officially land in the Japanese market in January 2024, and the goal is to sell 30,000 electric models in Japan every year by 2025, and it is expected that by 2025, there will be 100 dealer stores across Japan. It is reported that Japan is currently the world's fourth largest car market, its local brand models account for more than 90% of new car sales in Japan, in the past many overseas car brands have tried to occupy an important market share but failed, the future of BYD sales in the Japanese market, let's wait and see.

According to overseas media, the Japanese auto industry believes that dealers sell 200 cars per year is far above average, and BYD must sell about 300 new cars per year for BYD to achieve its goal. BYD originally planned to sell in the Japanese market through an online sales model, but later changed its plan to focus on dealers to better familiarize local consumers with the brand's products.

At present, BYD has begun to establish a large dealer network in Japan, and has signed agency contracts with dealers and sellers, and currently has about 50 sales outlets in Japan. At the same time, BYD also listed the brand's seal model as the first model to be sold in the Japanese market, with a market price of 3.63 million yen (about 190,000 yuan), an increase of nearly 36% compared with the starting price of the domestic model, and the main competitors in the same class include pure electric models such as the Nissan Leaf.
