Received reports from the masses that there was a problem of arbitrary charges in the mortuary of a hospital in Shanghai. After receiving the report, the law enforcement officers went to the scene to verify and found that the funeral service fee charged by the party was significantly higher than the price standard of the hospital in the mortuary.
After investigation, the mortuary has a parking time of 1-2 days for each body, and the cost of parking the body for 1 day is 270 yuan (i.e., the cost of bandaging and transferring, disinfection, and refrigerator storage), and the cost of parking for 2 days is 320 yuan. However, in the actual charging process, the parties settled with a misleading quotation of "package price of 520-620 yuan", deliberately obscuring the above-mentioned pricing units and service items.
The parties concerned repeatedly received complaints from the family of the deceased about the price, but did not actively rectify the situation, continued to overcharge the price, and provided false fee records to the investigators in order to conceal the fact of overcharging. In accordance with the relevant provisions of the "Price Law of the People's Republic of China", the Putuo District Market Supervision Bureau ordered the parties concerned to refund the overcharged price within a time limit, confiscated those that could not be refunded in accordance with the law, and imposed a maximum fine of 797,500 yuan;

In order to ensure the orderly progress of the mass sacrifice and sweeping activities of the majority of residents, all relevant funeral service business units are reminded to strictly abide by the "Price Law of the People's Republic of China" and other laws and regulations, and to operate in good faith in accordance with the law, strengthen price self-discipline, and standardize price behavior in the process of operation:
- For funeral services that are set by the government and guided by the government, it is necessary to strictly enforce the prescribed charging standards.
- For the prices of funeral services and funeral supplies that are subject to market adjustment prices, the prices should be reasonably set and clearly marked in accordance with the regulations, and the prices shall not be sold at a higher price (provide services) or charged any fees than the marked prices, and price fraud and other improper price behaviors shall not be carried out.
If the public finds that the funeral service business unit has the above price violations, please keep the relevant evidence and call 12315 or 12345 and other channels to complain and report, and the market supervision department will seriously investigate and deal with it in accordance with the law.
