author:Southern Metropolis Daily

On December 18, Hu Xiaoming, former CEO of Ant Group and former partner of Alibaba, announced the official establishment of a new agricultural brand "1.8 Agricultural Technology Company", which has been in preparation for two years, with himself as chairman and chief quality control officer. Hu Xiaoming said that the mission of 1.8 Meter Eight is to "make agriculture better due to technological innovation", hoping to improve the efficiency of agriculture through technological innovation, provide consumers with better high-quality ingredients, and at the same time enable farmers to obtain higher incomes.

According to Hu Xiaoming, the name of the "1.8 meters" company comes from the original intention of Alibaba founder Ma Yun to participate in agriculture, and all mothers in the world hope that their children can grow up healthily and be more than 1.8 meters tall. Nandu reporters noticed that at present, seafood products under the brand of 1.8 meters have been launched on Hema, of which 330g of raw frozen large yellow croaker is priced at 99 yuan / box, and mussels from Zhoushan Gorge Si Islands are priced at 29.9 yuan / 750g.

Tianyancha shows that 1.8 meters eight agricultural technology company is 100% controlled by 1.8 Meters Technology Holding Limited, which is a private limited company, established in Hong Kong in March this year, Ma Yun's actual control of Dajingtou Ershi No. 2 Culture and Art Co., Ltd. holds 10% of the company's shares, at the same time, many of the company's executives are Alibaba's "old men", so 1.8 meters agricultural technology company is also regarded as Ma Yun's new trend in the agricultural field.

"One Meter Eight" has four subsidiaries, involved in agricultural science and technology, marine aquatic products

Tianyancha industrial and commercial information shows that 1.8 Agricultural Technology (Hainan) Co., Ltd. was established on May 26 this year with a registered capital of 12 million US dollars, and its business scope includes breeding livestock and poultry operations, production, sales, processing, transportation, storage, etc. Equity penetration information shows that the company is 100% controlled by 1.8 Meters Technology Holding Limited.

It is worth mentioning that in addition to 1.8 Meters Agricultural Technology (Hainan) Co., Ltd., on September 19 last year, Zhinong Consulting Services (Haikou) Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of 1.8 Meters Technology Holding Limited, was officially established with a registered capital of 2.2 million US dollars and the legal representative is Ding Ming.

On July 20 this year, 1.8 Meters Technology (Zhejiang) Co., Ltd. was established in Hangzhou, with a registered capital of 110 million yuan, the legal representative is Deng Zhonghua, and its business scope covers aquaculture, food sales, frozen processing of aquatic products, offshore wind power related system research and development, etc., and 1.8 Meters Technology Holding Limited is also the actual controller of the company. On July 28, 1.8 Marine Technology (Zhoushan) Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of 1.8 Marine Technology (Zhejiang), was formally established with a registered capital of 30 million yuan, Chen Zesong, executive director and general manager, and Deng Zhonghua, the supervisor, and its business scope includes aquaculture, animal breeding, aquatic seed production, etc.

Majia Kitchen, which has attracted much attention before, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hangzhou Dajingtou Ershi No. 2 Culture and Art Co., Ltd. At that time, together with the Ma family's kitchen, there was also this one-meter-eight agricultural technology company. In August this year, at the China Joy held in Shanghai, Hema's 1.8-meter-long large yellow croaker pillow was grabbed madly and went out of the circle, and the outside world paid attention to Ma Yun's quiet layout of fisheries.

"One meter eight" agricultural company did not appear out of thin air, as early as 4 years ago, Ma Yun began to frequently deploy agriculture. In 2019, Ma Yun publicly stated that he might enter agriculture when he stepped down as chairman of the board of directors of Alibaba, and on October 10 of the same year, Alibaba's digital agriculture division announced the establishment of 1,000 digital agriculture bases across the country through the establishment of three middle platforms of production, supply and marketing, and carried out full-link digital upgrading of the agricultural industry. In September 2020, Genghai Muyang (Hainan) Investment Co., Ltd. was established with a registered capital of 200 million yuan, and the controlling shareholder is Hainan Yunfeng Enterprise Management Group Co., Ltd., and Ma Yun holds 50% of the company's shares.

In addition to investment actions, Ma Yun also personally conducted field visits at home and abroad. In 2021, Jack Ma visited the digital agriculture base in Pinghu, Jiaxing, Zhejiang, smart agriculture projects in Dezhou and Jinan, and on July 2, 2022, Jack Ma visited Wageningen University in the Netherlands to learn Xi technologies related to agriculture and the environment. During his stay in Japan, Ma Yun also specialized in Xi and research on marine aquaculture technology at University and Ocean University of Japan, and was hired as a visiting professor at the University of Tokyo on May 1 this year, with his main research direction in the field of "sustainable agriculture and food production".

The policy is favorable, and the Internet giants are aiming at the new blue ocean of smart agriculture

In fact, in addition to Alibaba, NetEase, Tencent and other Internet giants are also eyeing the big cake of smart agriculture. In March 2010, NetEase's agricultural brand NetEase Weiyang was born, and NetEase officially started the "pig breeding" business. NetEase Weiyang first introduced modern agricultural technology into the pig house, such as natural ultraviolet sterilization technology, intelligent ventilation system, and at the same time, with intelligent operation, to achieve the industrialization, informatization and controllability of pig breeding.

In 2016, NetEase Weiyang's first self-owned pig farm was officially put into production, and at the end of the same year, NetEase Weiyang black pork was officially listed, and it was sold in NetEase e-commerce channels such as NetEase Yanxuan, and since then, it has been sold on Tmall, Yanxuan, Koala, Jingdong and other platforms, and in 2017, it also joined hands with Century Lianhua to settle in 16 supermarket counters, gradually testing offline channels, and successfully creating a complete set of models from black pig breeding to sales.

Unlike Alibaba and NetEase, Tencent tends to cooperate with the government and scientific research institutions to focus on the Internet of the agricultural industry, and its projects involve smart agriculture digital terminals and solar greenhouse digital systems. On February 28 this year, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Tencent jointly launched the "National Crop Germplasm Bank 2.0 Project", and the two sides will carry out all-round cooperation around the protection and utilization of digital information of germplasm resources, and Tencent will donate 20 million yuan to support the construction of national germplasm bank informatization. In April, Tencent Cloud officially released the smart agriculture digital terminal, providing farmers and agricultural enterprises with Tencent's new digital agricultural tools for smart agriculture, and realizing real-time control of "thousands of acres of fertile land" on a large screen.

The fact that major Internet companies have set foot in smart agriculture is related to its broad prospects and huge market size. According to data from the China Business Industry Research Institute, combined with China's agricultural output value, the market size of smart agriculture in mainland China will be about 74.3 billion yuan in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 8.5%. It is predicted that the scale of the smart agriculture market in mainland China will further reach 82.6 billion yuan in 2023.

On the other hand, a series of policies issued by the state also provide a good production and operation environment for the development of smart agriculture. In January 2020, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Central Cyber Security and Information Commission issued the Digital Agriculture and Rural Development Plan (2019-2025), which made important instructions for the deep integration of digital technology and agricultural and rural economy. In December 2022, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) issued the "Implementation Plan for the 14th Five-Year Plan for Expanding Domestic Demand", pointing out that it is necessary to accelerate the development of smart agriculture and promote the digital transformation of agricultural production, operation and management services.
