The unique climatic conditions and the planting area near the mountains and rivers provide the most suitable growth environment for the light-loving, hot and water-loving red oranges, which have achieved the good quality, large size and high appearance of Yunyang red oranges, and their excellent taste of fresh and juicy, sweet and sour taste and mellow aroma are widely favored by consumers. As of 2022, there are 15 citrus varieties in the county, with a citrus planting area of 327,300 mu and an output of 275,700 tons, of which the three main varieties of Yunyang red orange cover an area of 189,000 mu and an output of 157,000 tons, accounting for 57% of the total output, involving more than 270,000 people in 198 villages in 29 townships (streets).

Longnan City is located in the southeast of Gansu Province, east of Shaanxi, south of Sichuan, is the only area in Gansu that belongs to the Yangtze River Basin, is located in the subtropical to north temperate transition zone, humid climate and three-dimensional distribution characteristics are obvious, light, soil and climatic conditions, so that the olive planted in Longnan not only has high yield, high oil content.
