Five years later, Taiwanese youth Hong Zichao still remembers the scene when he met General Secretary Xi Jinping. In 2017, Hong Zichao came to Jinan University to study Xi clinical medicine with his medical dream. "When the general secretary talked to us, he encouraged us to study hard, learn to become talents, and strive to contribute to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. ”
The general secretary's earnest teachings have always inspired Hong Zichao. After graduating with a bachelor's degree this year, he continued to study for a master's degree and participated in the standardized residency training at the Huaqiao Hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University.

Studying medicine is a hard road. Compared with other majors, the Xi period of medical majors is longer, with 6 years for undergraduate students, 3 years for graduate studies, and 5 years for master's and doctoral studies. During his general medicine Xi, Hong Zichao gnawed on stacks of medical books. In many difficult moments, he would always recall what the general secretary had said to himself - "There will always be problems, but there will also be ways to solve them." ”
Hong Zichao's mother is a midwife, and he hopes to do his best to help more people, just like his mother. Today, he has a deeper understanding of medicine, and the course of his life ideals is firmer. "After completing my studies, I want to stay in the Greater Bay Area as an ophthalmologist. Hong Zichao said that the eyes are the "window of the soul", and helping patients "see" the world clearly is a very proud and rewarding thing.

Chen Caiyi, from Tanjong Badu, Indonesia, is a student in the Department of Chinese Education, College of Chinese Language and Literature, Jinan University. "Many of our local Chinese are from Shantou. In China it is called 'Shantou', and in Indonesia it is called 'Shanwei'. One end and one end, it intuitively reflects the feelings of overseas Chinese who do not forget the national blood and keep in mind the fundamental feelings of family and country. Chen Caiyi, who speaks fluent Mandarin, uses the word "Shanwei" to refer to the local Chinese-speaking community in Indonesia where she grew up. Chen Caiyi began "bilingual Xi" at the age of two, speaking Teochew at home and learning Indonesian at school, planting the seeds of "root-seeking" in her heart since she was a child.
She had never been to China before going to university, but she often heard stories about China from her grandparents, when her great-grandfather went to Nanyang to make a living, starting from Yamato Du Weitou Village at the foot of Qingma Mountain in Chaozhou City, passing through Malaysia, Singapore, and finally settling in Indonesia. In her generation, it is already the fourth generation. Out of reverie and longing for her hometown, she decided to apply to study in China.
Across the mountains and seas, go to Jinan. In the Xi life of the College of Chinese Language and Literature, Chen Caiyi and several friends hit it off and formed a team of "Root-Seeking Chaoshan" to start a "root-seeking journey". With the family preface poems preserved in Chen Caiyi's Indonesian home, the team finally determined Chen Caiyi's ancestral hometown after several months. However, due to the incomplete genealogical information of the village, several elderly people in the village discussed for several days, but could not find out which family was her relative. The first "journey to find your roots" ended in failure.
In mid-July, a villager in Weitou Village, Chaozhou, called to say that there had been a photo of his "grandfather" hanging in their ancestral hall for many years, which resembled Chen Caiyi's great-grandfather. It was confirmed that the two families were relatives of the same clan.
"This journey to find our roots is also a journey of cultural heritage. After several generations, I can still find the roots of our family thousands of miles away, which is something I never dreamed of. Chen Caiyi said that the twists and turns of the experience of searching for relatives made her personally appreciate the unique charm of Chinese culture, and taught her to "pursue the distance cautiously, respect the ancestors and fulfill filial piety".
Chen Caiyi is studying at Ji University and plans to return to Indonesia after graduation to become a Chinese teacher and engage in work related to the dissemination of Chinese culture. She hopes to connect the cultural exchanges between China and overseas, so that more young generation of Chinese can experience the breadth and profundity of Chinese culture through Chinese language learning and Xi, contribute to the overseas dissemination of Chinese culture, and attract more overseas Chinese to return to their hometowns and recognize their ancestors.

Liu Xiaoxiao, the host of the Great Chinese Traditional Culture Education Famous Counselor Studio, wore a high-waisted skirt and told the students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese. "Hanfu is one of the external manifestations of traditional Chinese culture, and the cultural connotation it carries is rich and profound. Liu Xiaoxiao introduced that the opening of the Hanfu etiquette Xi class is not only to let students feel the beauty of Hanfu, but more importantly, to appreciate the Chinese cultural heritage contained in it.
On the campus of Ji University, there are many Chinese cultural experience activities such as the Hanfu Etiquette Xi Workshop. With overseas Chinese as a bridge, Jinan University has set up a Chinese cultural experience exhibition hall in three places and five campuses, built a Chinese talent training base, set up a Chinese cultural inheritance and communication research center, and created a cultural education brand such as the Chinese Cultural Festival and the International Cultural Gathering in Jinan, and a large number of high-quality research and Xi projects have penetrated into all aspects of students' Xi life.

Liu Xiaoxiao introduced that the Chinese Culture Lecture Hall of Jinan University, founded in 2016, provides a comprehensive Chinese culture research and Xi Xi platform for students, especially students from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese, through a variety of activities such as special lectures, seminars, volunteer services, and practical investigations.
Ritual music and poetry, gentlemen's elegant affairs, Chinese skills...... Up to now, the Chinese Culture Lecture Hall of Jinan University has held 13 sessions of 20 Chinese culture Xi classes, attracting more than 4,000 students from more than 60 countries and regions to participate in the training. At the beginning of the new autumn semester, Deng Baohua became a teacher in the cloisonné enamel experience class. In March this year, she initiated the establishment of the Science Popularization Volunteer Service Team of the School of Entrepreneurship of Jinan University, and held 11 activities such as youth cloisonné enamel experience, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and overseas Chinese youth cloisonné enamel experience, and Guangxiu science popularization, serving more than 800 students.
