ARC'TERYX stores are located all over the world, located in top urban business districts, and meet the experience needs of consumers by building high-standard, immersive scenes. As a top leader in the industry, Arc'teryx has landed in the core business district of Sanlitun, a landmark in Beijing, with its mountain forest genes and contemporary aesthetics originating from Vancouver, targeting the high-end consumer market and setting off a boom in outdoor sports.
The design takes the adventure of the mountains and forests as the starting point, pays tribute to the cultural context of Vancouver, and guides consumers to roam in a variety of themed spaces through continuous dialogue with nature, bringing unprecedented new experiences to outdoor enthusiasts and veteran bird fans.
In the early stage of the design, we visited Vancouver in depth, taking the recreation of "trees" by local artists as the main source of inspiration, and continuing and applying urban outdoor cultural artworks to the store.
The project site is L-shaped at right angles, and the façade is embedded with gray rock and glass, forming a stunning visual sense through bold design techniques, creating a unique personality and memory point for the brand. The design restores the natural mountain, and the skeleton-shaped logo light-emitting device stands on the interface of the concave and convex lines, forming a unique field atmosphere of Archaeopteryx in the external environment, guiding customers into the situation of the Vancouver Mountains and forests. At the entrance, a lightweight grille acrylic canopy is installed, while a rest area for interaction with consumers is extended out of the street.
The space seeks a close relationship between man and nature, and interprets the spirit of the outdoors in an artistic and innovative way. At the elevation angle of the store, through the transparent glass façade, giant dead tree roots are implanted into the scene. Adhering to the sustainable use of materials, the design team used the waste rust board recycled from the factory to create a 2-meter-high pine cone art installation at the suspended staircase, which echoes the large tree roots that run through it, creating a strong artistic atmosphere.
In this space on the second floor, the first floor is mainly planned as a professional product area for rock climbing and hiking series, suitable for mountain and forest scenes, and the second floor is set up as an urban life product area, covering 24 series, VEILANCE series and mountain classrooms. Rocks, trees and wood grain elements are applied throughout the space, and the combination of mountains expresses the brand DNA of Archaeopteryx. The internal ambient lighting of the space is combined with the local lighting of the product to create an atmosphere for different fields through the contrast between cold and warm.
The team scoured the forest for fallen dead trees, sliced the waste wood, and wrapped it in glass to form decorative columns. The annual rings record the tempering of the natural environment during the growth of the tree, and this perseverance coincides with the spirit of Archaeopteryx's spirit of "breaking through the limits and being born upward".
The exhibition area is custom-made with irregularly shaped rock booths, and the rust-colored metal branch silhouette panel wall echoes the overall "tree" theme of the store. The concept of tree holes is applied to the shops on the first floor, and every scene is derived from nature to respond to the thirst of outdoor enthusiasts. This area is mainly a young outdoor product line, which can also be sold as a special merchandise in the future.
Looking at the capital, the majestic ancient buildings merge with the sky. In this case, the eaves tile elements were extracted from this intention and applied to the façade of the VEILANCE business area, so as to interpret the ancient Chinese architectural style and show the cultural and inclusive nature of the Arc'teryx brand. Grey metal and cement create a tough space atmosphere and set off the temperament of outdoor products in the urban environment.
The overall space highlights the integration of outdoor and technological sense, and the display device extracts the shape of the production line equipment, using acrylic and metal materials, with the intention of conveying the brand's R&D and modification technology, and paying tribute to the outdoor spirit of ARC'TERYX.
The frame structure of the 24 series of products display area is made of wood, and the booth base of the irregular mountain presents an outdoor feeling from the details. The cave is set up in the mountain classroom area on the second floor, with low wooden stake tables, fabric sofas and decorative hearths to create a wood-like rest environment, allowing consumers to listen to the sharing of climbing masters while tasting coffee, and shorten the distance through brand promotion.
Returning to the mountains and wilderness, getting ready to go, and using the body to measure and perceive the world is the beginning of the connection between the individual and the world. As a top brand endorsed by outdoor enthusiasts and extreme sports experts, the opening of ARC'TERYX Beijing Landmark Store is an innovative practice that combines nature, outdoors and art, and offers a new interpretation of the outdoor sustainable lifestyle.
