After the explosion, Ji Xinglin was seriously injured, but his comrades were safe and sound. The hygienist quickly crawled over to bandage him. Due to his injuries, he died when he was carried to the field hospital in the village of Manguo, and was posthumously credited with second-class merit.

Three months later, on August 5, the regiment completed its combat mission and withdrew to land.
