General Li Mu
There is a Yanmen County in the Zhao Kingdom, which is close to the desert, and together with the neighboring Shanggu County, it has contracted almost all the pressure from the Mongolian steppe. Yanmen County bore the brunt of the Xiongnu's check-in destination, and it was plundered every three to five.
The one stationed in Yanmen County was Li Mu. As always, Li Mu thought that Li Mu was too timid. But suddenly one day, Li Mu gathered elite soldiers to prepare for battle, and let a large number of livestock graze everywhere. As soon as the small Xiongnu troops came, Li Mu pretended that he could not win the retreat. When the Xiongnu learned of this, they led a large number of men and horses to invade. Li Mubu deployed many flexible and peculiar battle formations, outflanked and counterattacked from the left and right flanks, defeated the Xiongnu, and killed more than 100,000 Xiongnu horses.
Then the question arises: Li Mu's combat method is nothing more than a defensive counterattack, and it is not very clever. Why can Li Mu win, but the general who replaced him is not?
The answer lies in Li Mu's army. This is a "Li Family Army" with the nature of mercenaries and highly subordinate to Li Mu.
Powerful clan mercenaries
The creation of this special army stemmed from the defensive situation of the dynasty.
The location of the place is remote and the risk is too great, and if King Zhao directly sends troops, the long supply line will bring huge transportation costs and consumption. There was no way, King Zhao had to entrust Li Mu to solve the defense problem on his own in the local area.
With cheap officials, the city rent is imported into Mofu, for the pawn fee. Fight a few cattle in the day, learn to shoot and ride, beacon fire, spy more, and meet the soldiers.
Li Mu had the right to set up officials according to actual needs, and the taxes of the city (in the defense of the territory) were sent to Li Mu's shogunate as the expenses of the army.

Li Mu's power can be regarded as a perfect war machine. Scale aside, this war machine is more optimized than the Qin State:
1. Huge military investment. The fiscal and tax revenues from border trade are abundant.
