According to the Hong Kong Business Daily, on April 24, Hong Kong Transport and Housing Secretary Chen Fan released a blog saying that there are now about 11,000 qualified cross-border truck drivers in Hong Kong, and as of the 22nd, 6,900 cross-border truck drivers have been vaccinated with the first dose of the new crown vaccine, and the vast majority of active drivers are expected to complete the vaccination by the end of the month.

Chen Fan said that after consultation and support with the Guangdong Provincial Government, starting from the early morning of the 23rd, the Guangdong Provincial Government relaxed the cross-border truck drivers who have been vaccinated with two doses of vaccine for 14 days, and only need to hold a negative nucleic acid test certificate obtained within 72 hours when entering Shenzhen and Zhuhai, and there is no need to take samples at the first entry every day, so that the detection frequency density of cross-border drivers is reduced to 3 days and one inspection.

Chen Fan pointed out that there are now about 7,000 active drivers in Hong Kong. As of the 22nd, about 6,900 cross-border drivers, or about 98% of active drivers, have received the first dose of the vaccine; about 6,200 have received the second dose of the vaccine.

Chen Fan said that with the rising vaccination rate of cross-border truck drivers and the general public, on the basis of the effective prevention and control of the epidemic in Hong Kong and the protection of the people in the two places, it is hoped that the testing measures can be relaxed in the future.
