[#U.S. Department of Justice sues SpaceX#, accusing it of hiring only Americans and refusing to recruit political asylum seekers and refugees] On the 24th, the U.S. Department of Justice announced that it was suing the space company Space X for discriminating against refugees and non-U.S. citizens. Between 2018 and 2022, Space X routinely rejected candidates seeking refugee or asylum status, falsely citing export control laws in job advertisements and public statements, claiming that the company could only hire U.S. citizens and green card holders, in violation of the U.S. Immigration and Nationality Act, the indictment said.

The Justice Department said refugee status holders have the same rights to live and work in the United States as citizens and green card holders. When employed as a refugee, employees have the same access to export control information and materials as citizens and do not require additional government approvals. Justice Department Assistant Attorney General Christine Clark said the discrimination was a violation of federal law, and the Justice Department sought Space X to change its hiring practices and compensate candidates who had previously been discriminated against.

Space X did not comment. The Justice Department also encourages the public to report cases of hiring discrimination on its website. (Reporting by Phoenix Satellite TV, Chen Feifei, Zhang Zhaoyu in New York)
