Ronald, a resident of Cathedral City, California: At about 11:30, the storm ended. Around 12 o'clock, I heard a similar explosion downstairs. I went downstairs to see that the water rushed in, the fireplace was flushed out, and within three minutes, the entire first floor where I lived was filled with water.
In another neighborhood in Cathedral City, California, on the 21st, Ross and her husband were helping residents clear the streets and move some furniture back into their homes. Ross said that it rained in her community from about 5 p.m. on the 20th until midnight, and the drainage ditch could not drain all the water at once, and the street was quickly flooded.
