Will AI replace humans? The real answer may not be what you think

Artificial intelligence is currently the hottest investment topic. The most discussed topic is whether artificial intelligence will really replace human jobs.

From a realistic point of view, AI has indeed eliminated some jobs, and will continue to eliminate more human jobs in the near future. In order not to be replaced by artificial intelligence in the future, we first need to know what kind of human jobs artificial intelligence will replace. I have compiled more than 10 professions that have been or will be replaced by AI as follows:

  1. Assembly line production. Mass production of large-scale industrial production, robots have long emerged in this field. Conversely, customized, personalized and innovative flexible production is not easy to replace by AI.
  2. Telephone customer service. Automated dialing systems and customer service bots are more widely used. I previously applied for the repair of the washing machine at home, and the whole process of intelligent robot voice service successfully accepted my repair application, and arranged for the nearest master to repair it. Another job type that can be flexibly employed.
  3. Banking and insurance at the grassroots level. Self-service and online banking are becoming more popular. The queue inside the bank is more elderly people. In terms of insurance claims, artificial intelligence automates the claim process, including loss assessment and compensation calculation. Students studying finance and insurance (which belong to the secondary branch of finance) can further think about what the future holds. The financial industry needs compound talents, not just single talents who know financial literacy.
  4. Administrative Assistant. Automated scheduling and document management technology that automates many routine office tasks, such as taking meeting minutes, sending and receiving emails, and more. Undergraduate major secretarial science (is a major in Chinese and Chinese Chinese and Chinese literature), I really don't know what the significance of this major is.
  5. Hotel reception. Technologies such as self check-in and online booking have led to a significant reduction in the workload at the hotel front desk. Corresponding to the undergraduate hotel management major, this major is a tourism management major, which is more speechless than the tourism management major, without professional barriers.
  6. Supermarket cashier. Artificial intelligence can quickly and accurately complete the cash register and counting by scanning barcodes and RFID technology. Of course, there has to be someone watching to handle complex situations, which AI can't do. Therefore, the reduction is only the cashier of large supermarkets, and the general small supermarket still needs a cashier on duty.
  7. Basic finance. Automated financial software and artificial intelligence technologies can already automate many bookkeeping and reporting tasks, reducing the need for basic bookkeepers. In the future, accounting majors need to improve their comprehensive capabilities and strategic management capabilities, that is, facing a more volatile future in the industry.
  8. Automobilism. Driverless and autonomous driving technology is on the rise. However, as long as the driver still needs to bear legal responsibility, it will not be completely replaced by AI. Otherwise, if there is a traffic accident, can AI go to jail? However, it is foreseeable that the incidence of traffic accidents will decline further. E-hailing and chauffeuring are still the main force of flexible employment.
  9. Photographer. Automatic photography technology has significantly improved the level of photography of natural persons. Professional photography and PS techniques will become more popular. In fact, it is not necessary to study this area as a major (but if you have an educational background in a major such as visual communication design, it will add points to your resume). In the self-media industry, the demand for photographers has increased, especially the requirements for personal photography and other abilities have further risen.
  10. Warehousing logistics. Artificial intelligence can automate warehousing, logistics management and distribution through intelligent scheduling and autonomous driving technology. Therefore, the logistics management major should be built on the artificial intelligence major. In other words, you should study computer or mathematics at the undergraduate level, and then study logistics management at the graduate level, which is the most real way to meet the actual needs of the industry.
  11. Traditional news. Automated news gathering and processing technology can already automate some simple news reporting and analysis. The journalism profession has completely collapsed after the arrival of new media. Automated social media management and analytics technologies can already automate many social media tasks. The journalism profession is not as valuable as Chinese and visual communication design.
  12. English translation. Automatic translation technology can already automate some simple translation tasks. iFLYTEK recently released a headset that can directly perform translation tasks. What do you think of the future of the translation profession? I feel gray. Of course, if you can enter 211 colleges and universities such as Beiwai and Shangwai to learn unpopular small languages, it will be a career path for diplomats and one of the highest paid groups among civil servants.
  13. Medical laboratory technology. Automated laboratory equipment and artificial intelligence analysis technology can already automate many tasks in medical laboratories. Medical laboratory technology is not recommended.
  14. Tour guide. Artificial intelligence can provide automated tours and audio presentations through virtual tour guide technology. Again, I advise against studying tourism management. A major without a professional threshold, and not yet in business administration. In this sense, even majors such as marketing and human resource management are better than tourism management majors.
Will AI replace humans? The real answer may not be what you think

So, does AI only eliminate jobs, not create jobs? And what kind of work has been produced?

The answer is to generate a prompt word engineer, for example, to convert Party A's needs into prompt words, input accurate demand expressions to AI, and then output the results that Party A needs.

In the future, every professional needs to become a prompt word engineer, which is like PPT, Excel, Word, become a necessary skill in the workplace, but also a key work content. And the reason why such work content is produced is only because AI is too powerful, so that most humans cannot use the full capabilities of AI. It is a dragon slaying sword, but there are very few warriors who can lift it.

So, how do we cope with the impact of the wave of AI technology in the AI era?

In my opinion, there are mainly the following aspects:

  1. Your knowledge of the AI's functions, data, features, and communication methods.
  2. Your reserve of knowledge in all aspects. If you don't know physics, you can't call on the power of AI to solve physics problems. Similarly, if you don't understand finance, you can't use AI to accurately predict stock price changes (but if everyone uses AI to predict stock prices, then stock prices will be more elusive, which involves financial behavior).
  3. Your ability to use human language. Since AI learns a lot of human language, it even surpasses humans in terms of human language. At this time, people who are proficient in human language are needed to communicate with AI more efficiently and fully. The point is that you have a sufficient level of awareness of these human languages that the AI is learning. In other words, AI will become the standard paradigm for human language. If your language is not understood by AI, it means that your language is not standard enough, because the AI has learned a lot of human language and has enough representation of human language. All geographical differences will be smoothed out by AI. (To put it further: your level of English depends on whether the AI can accurately understand what your English is trying to say.) From this point of view, multilingual learners also have more unique advantages in AI communication. )
  4. Your ability to fine-tune the details of the results generated by the AI. AI can't output results that are completely satisfactory to you, AI just outputs results that most people are likely to be satisfied with. The strength of AI is learning, and the weakness is also learning. AI learns a lot of knowledge, but its ability to discern knowledge depends on the data itself. In higher-level and more nuanced fields, relevant data is scarce, so AI's capabilities are difficult to cover. This part of the data is where humans have an advantage over AI.
  5. Your ability to grasp human values. Values are the more differentiating part of people. Most of AI's data is in conflict. If you ask AI philosophical questions, AI will most likely give inconsistent and contradictory answers. This is because AI data is contradictory, even in the field of professional philosophy, where various opinions are conflicting and contradictory. If the AI is allowed to learn a large amount of contradictory philosophical data, it will most likely form a self-contradictory AI. If you define the identity of AI, like a certain philosopher. AI can summarize and tease out the philosopher's point of view. But if AI were to sort out the overall philosophical view, it would be a paradoxical thing. AI can't always tell you that "46% of the philosophical literature supports Russell's view, and 32% of the philosophical literature supports Nietzsche's view." Therefore, AI is an auxiliary means for the judicial system, and AI cannot be used to directly conduct judicial adjudication. AI follows the principle of minority obeying majority. The knowledge of some professional fields is only in the hands of a few people, and will not even appear in the training data of AI.
Will AI replace humans? The real answer may not be what you think

From the above analysis, the following answer can be summarized.

Age-new word engineers are no easy job. Expertise, jargon, human language communication, and a deep foundation of values are still needed. That is to say, it is more necessary for human beings to have sufficient understanding of knowledge in a certain field, especially the value system of this field. From this point of view, logic, philosophy, and various languages are all necessary skills for prompt word engineers. Just as with calculators, we no longer learn complicated manual arithmetic skills (with the exception of the college entrance examination and the public entrance examination). At least the traditional skill of unarmed horn has been lost. But this does not affect the development of mathematics itself, but promotes the development of mathematics.

Predictably:

AI will make competition in all areas of human society more intense. Because essentially, AI improves productivity per unit of labor. The world will need less labor. Most people now work in the tertiary industry, and AI directly turns the tertiary industry into a technology-intensive industry (reducing the labor demand of the tertiary industry). Office jobs will disappear in large numbers, and humans will need to find high-skilled service industries as their future employment direction.
