Spanish football legend Luis Suárez Miramontes died on July 9, 2023, at the age of 88. Luis Suarez Miramontes is the only Spanish European Ballon d'Or winner so far, Suarez was born on May 2, 1935 in Deportivo La Coruña, Spain, and began his career at Deportivo La Coruña, after leaving Deportivo Barcelona, Suarez played for La Liga giants FC Barcelona and Serie A giants Inter Milan respectively, and has helped Barcelona and Inter Milan clubs win La Liga and Serie A trophies many times. Later in his career, Suarez moved to Serie A powerhouse Sampdoria and in 1973 Suarez announced his retirement.
In the Spanish national team, Suarez's peak moment was winning the 1964 European Championship for the Spanish national team, and he was one of the greatest players in Spanish football of the 20th century.
