Official announcement of signing! The Rockets signed veteran Jeff Green to a one-year, $6 million contract.

According to HoopsHype's Michael Scotto, after Brooke Lopez turned down the Rockets. The Rockets quickly signed veteran forward Jeff Green to a one-year, $6 million veteran contract. Mainly to help the team's young players grow faster.

Jeff Green, who is known to be 36 years old, was a backup forward for the NBA champion Denver Nuggets last season. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 7.8 points (48.8 percent shooting) and 2.6 rebounds in 19.5 minutes, though his leadership and locker room performance were outstanding.

It is understood that Green, who previously played for the Rockets in 2019-20, was a plug-and-play forward under head coach Mike D'Antoni who often hid in the bottom corner of unnoticed three-point shoots and secretly shot three-pointers. After the Clint Capela trade, Green's position changed to that of a small-ball center, averaging 12.2 points (56.4% shooting, 35.4% three-point shooting) and 2.9 rebounds in 22.6 minutes per game.

As things stand, Green joins newly signed center Jock Randall as a backup for Houston Rockets starter Alperon Shinking. Green could also be a power forward backup behind Jabari Smith Jr., and the Rockets' forward strength is not weak anyway.
