In May this year, the Zhenjiang New District Market Supervision Bureau conducted a food sampling operation on steamed bun shops throughout the district. During the period, it was found that the brown sugar steamed buns and black rice steamed buns made and sold by the bun shop of Ding Di Liu in the new district were detected with sodium saccharin, and the test results were unqualified. After the incident, law enforcement officers rushed to the store for on-site inspection at the first time, but Liu Moumou refused to admit that he had added sodium saccharin to the steamed bun. At the same time, at the inspection site, law enforcement officers did not find any suspected saccharin sodium items, and the case was once deadlocked.

In June, law enforcement officers in the new district again conducted a surprise inspection of Liu Mou's bun shop. Through repeated inquiries and repeated maneuvers, the psychological defense line of the parties was broken. The party confessed that during the first inspection by law enforcement officers, the store secretly hid sodium saccharin and concealed the truth.

According to his account, the parties knew that the addition of sodium saccharin was illegal, and still added it in order to make a profit. As of the time of the case, the parties had made and sold more than 2,000 steamed buns containing saccharin and sodium, and the profit reached more than 1,000 yuan.

According to the law enforcement personnel, the parties' behavior violated the provisions of item (4) of the first paragraph of article 34 of the Food Safety Law, and in accordance with article 16 of the Interim Provisions on Administrative Punishment Procedures for Market Supervision and Management, the Market Supervision Bureau of the New District transferred the case to the public security organs. After the public security organ formally files the case, it will employ compulsory measures against the parties. On August 23, the case was transferred to the procuratorate.

However, because the parties to the case voluntarily admitted to the illegal acts afterwards and did not cause serious consequences, the procuratorial organs recently decided not to prosecute and re-transferred the case to the New District Market Bureau for investigation and punishment according to law.

According to reports, sodium saccharin and cyclamate are food additives, which do not have any nutritional value except to make food sweet.
