The second week of the 2023 Women's Volleyball World League has all ended, and the standings have changed. The Polish women's volleyball team remained strong and ranked first with 7-1 and 20 points, the United States temporarily ranked second with a difference of 1 point (7-1), and the Chinese women's volleyball team was overtaken by Turkey to drop to fourth place after two consecutive defeats.
The women's volleyball World League rankings in the second week are as follows: Poland 7-1 with 20 points, the United States with 19 points from 7-1, Turkey with 19 points from 6-2, China with 18 points from 6-2, Brazil with 18 points from 6-2, Germany with 16 points from 6-2, Japan and Italy with 5 wins to temporarily 7-8, Serbia, Canada and Dominica 3-5 to 9-11, the Netherlands, Thailand and Croatia all to 12-14 with 2 wins, and Bulgaria to 15th with 1 win. South Korea lost all eight games to last place.
After the first week, China, Poland and the United States all maintained a four-game winning streak, but in the second week, all three teams suffered defeat, so far there are no winning teams in the World League, especially China, which suffered two consecutive defeats, and the ranking also slipped from the previous second place to the fourth place. However, although it was surpassed by Turkey, the probability of the women's volleyball team advancing to the finals is still very large.
The Italian women's volleyball team came out on top, finishing eighth and taking the initiative to advance to the finals. In the first week, Italy only had one victory to temporarily finish 12th, and in the second week they were humiliated and won two games, which made them very good in the third week. In the third week, the Italian women's volleyball team will play against Brazil, Canada, Croatia and Japan.
World champion Serbia women's volleyball team played steadily in the second week, earning points in all four matches, which also raised them to ninth place and retained their hopes of promotion. There is currently a gap of two wins between Serbia and Italy and Japan, and in order to qualify for the finals, it is better to have four consecutive wins in the following matches, and it depends on the face of the other person. Serbia's last four opponents are China, Germany, Dominica and Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian women's volleyball team's relegation situation is in jeopardy, and the battle for relegation has changed drastically as Croatia upset Thailand defeated Thailand. Since South Korea is a core team, even if they lose everything, they cannot be relegated, so the relegation places will come from Bulgaria and Croatia. At present, Bulgaria has 5 points from 1 win, Croatia has 6 points from 2 wins, and Bulgaria needs another win if it wants to stay in the World League.
Bulgaria's last four opponents are South Korea, the United States, Poland and Serbia. From the perspective of the schedule, Bulgaria must win South Korea to be relegated; Croatia's opponents are Canada, the Netherlands, Italy and Turkey. Croatia would be better off taking another win from Canada.
