In Shuangbai, whether it is in the mountains, or next to the village road, whether it is a river or a kutang lake, there are many famous ancient trees growing. There are 16 varieties of ancient trees in 11 families that are listed as precious tree species and are explicitly protected.

Shuangbai County conducted a survey of the county's ancient and famous trees in 2012, and 3,733 trees were registered. These ancient trees, which are regarded by the locals as "sacred trees", "dragon trees" and "feng shui trees", have been preserved and have become a unique natural historical landscape and irreplaceable landscape resources, which scholars call "living cultural relics", "emeralds" and "green antiques".

Ancient tea trees

The origin of the ancient tea plant has a history of at least 60,000 to 70,000 years. There are more than 1,000-1,500 ancient tree teas in Ejia Town (all of which are more than 100 years old), and there are two kinds of wild type and cultivation type, the largest of which is identified as the largest wild type tea tree in Chuxiong Prefecture. It grows in the small tea tree village villager group of the old factory village committee of Ejia Town, the tree tree shape, the age of the tree is about 600 years, the circumference is 2.95 meters, the diameter is 0.94 meters, the tree height is 7.5 meters, the tree width is 41.2 square meters, and the variety is Dali tea.

There is also a largest cultivated tea tree in Chuxiong Prefecture, which is also in Ejia. Its tree grows in the Liangzi Villagers Group of the Old Factory Village Committee of Ejia Town, the tree is tree-shaped, the age of the tree is about 600 years, the circumference is 3.35 meters, the diameter is 1.07 meters, the height of the tree is 12 meters, the width of the tree is 125 square meters, there are 7 branches, the leaf color is green, the tree posture is upright, and the variety is black tea.

Ancient mulberry trees

On the old black mountain behind Muxilang Village, Stone Village Committee, Fayun Town, Shuangbai County, there are 13 large groups of wild ancient mulberry trees growing in the range of 800-1000 square meters of mountain forest, and the distance between trees is about 60-80 meters, of which one of the larger wild ancient mulberry trees grows 20 meters high and has a tree width of 60 square meters, which is rare in Shuangbai County and even In Chuxiong Prefecture.

According to the identification of well-known domestic expert groups, this ancient mulberry tree is about 800-1000 years old, which belongs to the wild long-spike mulberry variety and is the largest ancient mulberry tree found in China.

Sugar beet tree

On May 6, 2017, in the valley along the Green Juice River in Shuangbai County, there were more than 10 ancient beet trees with an age of about 300 years.

Sugar beet trees are mainly distributed in the middle and upper reaches of the Red River Basin in the Yuanjiang and Shuangbai areas, growing in the valleys at an altitude of about 1500 meters and in the dense forests on the steep slopes on both sides of the mountain basket. Sugar beet trees have harsh living conditions, artificial reproduction is more difficult, and the number of survivors is small. With the increase in market demand, the price per kilogram of young stems, leaves and inflorescences was as high as 300 yuan when they were first listed. The ancient beet tree group found this time has a trunk diameter of more than 30 centimeters and a tree height of about 7 meters, which is relatively well preserved.

Beech wood

Beech wood is produced in southern China, hence the name Southern Elm. Beech wood is commonly known as "declining nobility", since the Ming and Qing dynasties, beech wood has always been a common material for folk furniture, followed by China's beech wood material is also decreasing. In 1999, it was listed as a national second-level key protected plant and logging was prohibited.

In 2019, there are only a few communities of beech trees (commonly known as tielan trees) in Fadian Dalongtan Village, Falan Town, Shuangbai County, which was listed for protection, of which three were larger, all of which were more than 340 years old. The largest tree is 30 meters tall, has a circumference of 460 centimeters, and has an average crown width of 14 meters, 15 meters from east to west, and 13 meters from north to south. Beech wood is rarely distributed in other parts of the territory of Shuangbai.

Camellias in Shuangbai County are widely distributed and more numerous in Ejia Town, and many villages have cultivated them. At present, a relatively well-protected tree has been more than 180 years old, the tree height is 7 meters, the tree circumference is 33 cm, although the ancient camellia tree is older, but the tree is tall, the branches are luxuriant, the petals are huge, the flowers are numerous, and the single tree is unique.
