Yunnan Province, located in the southwest of the motherland, is a mountain country, and 94% of the province's land area is mountainous. It's a place of high mountains and rivers; it has a long history and a splendid culture. About the middle and late Warring States period, with Baoshan as the center, within a radius of more than one million square kilometers, there appeared an ancient Ailao state, and there was a majestic mountain at the eastern boundary of the ancient Ailao state, and the ancients named it after this mountain in the name of the Ailao State, called Ailao Mountain. Today, the ancient Ailao State has long disappeared mysteriously in the long river of history, and this mountain named after the Ailao prison still stands in the land of central Yunnan.
Ailao Mountain, the largest mountain range in central Yunnan, runs in a northwest-southeast direction, with a maximum altitude of 3166 meters. Starting from Weishan County, Midu County, Nanjian County in the south of Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture and Fengqing County and Yun County in the northeast of Lincang City, it extends southeast through Nanhua County, Chuxiong City, and Shuangbai County in the south of Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Xinping County and Yuanjiang County in the southwest of Yuxi City, Jingdong County, Zhenyuan County, Jinggu County, Ning'er County, Mojiang County, and Jiangcheng County in the central and eastern part of Pu'er City, and extends to Honghe County, Luchun County, Yuanyang County, Jinping County, Pingbian County, and Hekou County in the southern part of Honghe Hani Yi Autonomous Prefecture. The length is more than 500 kilometers, the width is about thousands of meters to tens of kilometers, and the climate, precipitation, vegetation, etc. vary widely. In this rolling mountain inhabits a variety of wild animals and plants, inhabited by many ethnic minorities, interpreting a variety of ups and downs, tragic and joyful human dramas, but also because of its mysterious geological landforms and various legends intertwined with the real legendary story, so it is also known as the secret of mourning.

So, how many secrets are hidden in the Secret Realm of Sorrow? Answering this question is not a day's work, and it is not possible to complete every corner of the thousand-mile mourning prison overnight. However, there is a scenic spot in the depths of Ailao Mountain that everyone is familiar with, that is, the world's natural and cultural heritage - Yuanyang Terraces. When you come here to see the unique and beautiful scenery, and see that the terraces are almost built from the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain, will you have the same question as I do: the water flows down, and many rivers here are in the deep mountain canyons, so where does the water that irrigates these terraces built on the ridge come from?
In fact, the answer lies in a local proverb. In the depths of the vast mourning prison, there has always been a saying: how high the mountain is, how high the water is. If you don't believe me, just follow me to see Nan'en Falls.
Nan'en Waterfall is located in Shuitang Town, Xinping Yi dai autonomous county, Yuxi City, Yunnan Province, in the hinterland of Ailao Mountain, about 20 kilometers away from the town, next to S306 Provincial Highway.
In fact, there are terraces in many places in the depths of Ailao Mountain, but the scale and landscape are different.

It turned out that some restaurants used the spring water of this clear Ailao Mountain to make wine here. I was insensitive to wine, and I didn't even taste it, and I regretted it afterwards- such a unique wine should be tasted no matter what the taste. Nan'en Falls.
More than twenty kilometers of mountain road is not far, forty minutes by car. There is a small car park next to S306 Provincial Road for visitors to park for free.
The current is straight down and spectacular.
The provincial road passes through the mountainside, and when viewed from the road upwards, it seems that the waterfall is falling from the top of the mountain, which is quite spectacular.
From another point of view, it is still falling from the sky, imposing.

Today we enjoyed the spectacular momentum of Nan'en Waterfall falling from the sky, and it also reminded me of another saying: there is a sky outside the sky. Anyone who has climbed a mountain knows that you look at the top of the mountain in front of you and think that climbing to the top of the mountain is the top. Actually, when you climb to the top of this mountain, there are still higher mountains waiting for you. The same is true of what we see today, and behind the summit we see, there must be higher peaks. And this spectacular waterfall must have been formed by the streams of the higher peaks coming together and rushing down. And the formation of these streams, in addition to the need for a certain amount of precipitation, good vegetation is also essential. This once again confirms General Secretary Xi Jinping's "two mountains theory": green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains! The masses of all ethnic groups living in the depths of the Thousand Mile Ailao Mountain have been able to multiply and live from generation to generation by relying on the nourishment of this green water and green mountains.
Exploring Nan'en Waterfall today is very rewarding, but there are still many secret places waiting for us to explore them one by one. I'm looking forward to it.
