In Kazakhstan, a brown bear named Katia was jailed for injuring two people in a camp in 2004. Unable to find another suitable place to hold it, Katia is sent to a human prison, where she is imprisoned with murderers and other criminals, becoming the only "woman" in prison. Now, after 15 years of captivity, Katia has finally been "released".
It is understood that in this prison, which holds hundreds of dangerous criminals, Katia has a "cell" that is only two blocks in size, as well as its own swimming pool, which is cared for by other prisoners.
Unlike other prisoners, Katia did not have the privilege of "conjugal visitation." Azamat Gaptasov, the prison's deputy director of education, said before Katya's release: "It's a pity that we can't bring her a male bear. ”
A prison spokesman revealed: "There is a swimming pool near Katia's cell where she can play, swim and rest to her heart's content. During the time she spent with the prisoners, Katia received their love and care. Katia needs to undergo various examinations and long adaptation periods to re-exercise how to live in a natural environment. After leaving, she will be missed forever by other prisoners. ”
Katia will be transferred to a mini-zoo in the future, where in addition to the three bears, there are other animals such as wolves, camels, ponies, donkeys and yaks. In her new home, Katia will be given more freedom and space.
The zoo director said: "Katia will be accompanied by other bears in her new home, among which our male bear Yashka is very happy to see him. Yashka stretched out his paws and hugged Katia. We are very happy and moved by such a warm scene. ”
