As early as September 6, the National Development and Reform Commission issued a reply on the third phase of the construction plan (2021-2026) of Qingdao Urban Rail Transit. The announcement mentioned that the third phase of Qingdao Urban Rail Transit construction plan was agreed in principle, and 7 projects such as the second phase of Line 2, Line 5, Line 6, Line 7 Phase II, Line 8 Branch Line, Line 9 Phase I and Line 15 Phase I were built, with a planning period of 2021-2026.

It is not difficult to see that after the approval, Qingdao is actively promoting the construction of the third-phase subway line. Zhang Jiangang, chairman of Qingdao Metro Group, introduced that in order to accelerate the preliminary work of each line in the third phase of the subway construction plan, the subway group started some survey and design work in advance to stabilize and optimize the line station location plan and shorten the time from line approval to construction. In 2021, we will strive to start construction of the second phase of Line 2, Line 5 and Line 7, and the other four lines are scheduled to start construction in 2022.

It is reported that the second phase of Qingdao Metro Line 2 (east section) starts from Licun Park Station, the line leads out from the north end of the tunnel after the first phase of the project station, crosses the Xiawangbu interchange along Xiazhuang Road in the north, lays east along Jinshui Road, passes through Qingyin Expressway, Fo'er Cliff, Zang Village, Lijia Shangliu and then runs north along Changchuan Road, turns into Shiyuan Avenue to the east, and sets up Expo Park Station on the west side of the binhai highway intersection. The eastern section of the line is about 8.89km long, all of which are underground lines, and there are 8 stations on the whole line, including 2 interchange stations (Xiawangbu Station and Line 15 in the same period, and Expo Park Station and the existing Line 11).

The Qingdao Metro Line 5 project starts at Maidao Road Station and ends at Yunling Road Station. The line mainly passes through Maidao Road, Ningxia Road, Ninghai Road, Changle Road, passes through Jiaoji Railway and cruise home port, follows Hangzhou Road and Ruichang Road to Enter Happy Binhai City, then passes through Jiaoji Railway along Zhenping Road, and lays along Zhengzhou Road, Changning Road, Jinsong 7th Road, Yinchuan East Road, Haier Road, hong kong East Road to the end of Yunling Road Station. The line is about 32.7 km long, all of which are underground lines, with a total of 28 stations.

The second phase of Qingdao Metro Line 7 includes both the north and south ends, of which the northern extension of Line 7 starts from Dongguozhuang Station at the end of the first phase of the project to the end of Yingpu Road Station, Yingpu Road Station is the depot connection station, and the northern extension section is about 12.8km long, all of which are underground lines, with 11 stations, including 1 interchange station; the southern extension of Line 7 starts from the interchange station with Cangkou Airport on Line 8 to Xingguo Road Station, the starting point of the first phase of the project. The southern extension of the line is about 3.7 km long, all of which are underground lines, with three stations, including 2 interchange stations.

It is not difficult to see that the focus of the construction of the three new lines that will be the first to start construction in the third phase will be to realize the network operation of the subway lines in the main urban area, and in addition to the new lines, the five lines currently under construction have also ushered in new progress.

Among them, starting on September 6, the southern section of Metro Line 1 began a three-month no-load trial operation, which is expected to open for operation before the Spring Festival. This nearly 60-kilometer subway line connects Qingdao's main urban area with the West Coast New Area, and also makes Line 13 integrated into the city's overall subway line network a reality.

Not only in series Line 13, but also at Qingdao Station and Line 3, at Taitung Station and Line 2, at Qingdao North Station with Line 3 and Line 8. After the full opening of Line 1, the number of stations operating on the six lines of Qingdao Metro will reach 132, with a total operating mileage of 284 kilometers.

In the entire Qingdao rail transit network, Line 4 also has the nature of "transfer line". After the opening of the train, Line 4 will form an interchange with the southern section of Line 1, Line 2, Line 3 and Line 11 that preceded it, and the total number of interchange stations on the line will be as high as 28%.

In addition, the western extension of Line 2 and the first phase of Line 6 are expected to open in 2024. The southern section of Line 8 is in the civil construction stage, affected by the special land use, the special land-related area of the southern section does not have the conditions for entering the construction site, and the opening time of the southern section of Line 8 needs to be determined according to the follow-up construction situation.

At present, the extension and landing of various subway lines have made the Qingdao metro network increasingly intertwined. So, what kind of role will this continuously improving subway network play in promoting urban development?

For the city, the most direct impact of the increasingly complete subway line is to alleviate the daily commuting pressure in Qingdao.

At present, the average daily passenger traffic of Qingdao metro network exceeds 800,000 passengers, the highest daily passenger traffic is 1.22 million passengers, and key indicators such as train punctuality rate and operation chart redemption rate are firmly at the forefront of the industry, and the share rate of public transportation travel has reached 20%. While providing convenience for urban residents to travel, it also effectively alleviates the problem of urban traffic congestion.

Secondly, the connection between qingdao's regional plates will be strengthened to achieve the coordinated development of Qingdao's urban space. After the opening of the full line in the future, the east and west banks of Qingdao will achieve real integration geographically and economically, and will also make the communication between the north and south of Qingdao more convenient, so that the five urban areas will be closely connected.
