Maybe you don't remember his name, but you must be familiar with his paintings. A few strokes, but there are infinite tastes.
Pen and ink have affection, fortunately this human world, because you have come, and more lovely.
Some people say that Feng Zikai is very close to us, like painting our lives. Some people say that he is far away from us, and that kind of quiet and elegant mood seems to belong only to the era of "once upon a time slow".
However, if you approach Feng Zikai's life, you will know that he has also been displaced and bitterly cold. It's just that he turns all the pain into gentle brushstrokes, leaving a "rich" human world for the world, interesting, poetic, and affectionate.
In his paintings, the innocence of the child is cared for, people are humble and indifferent, they smile in the face of troubles, spring, summer, autumn and winter are filtered with a gentle filter, and there is also poetry hidden in the skin.
The human world is merciless, and the pen and ink are affectionate. The taste of life is not as good as the "abundance" of the human world.

The child in his heart was like the stars in the sky. He has a heavy childlike heart and likes to communicate with children. The life of a child that is commonplace in our eyes, through his depictions, becomes interesting, real and not exaggerated, and makes people feel a faint joy.
It seems that he has drawn the innocence of a child, but in fact, it is more like taking a picture of you and me as a child.
Once, he strolled along the West Lake and saw children holding large lotus leaves, like two lotus leaf dolls. They clearly thought of the lotus flowers with their hearts in their hearts, and they only remembered the lotus leaves when they picked them.
Another time, as soon as he got home, he saw his son playing the role of coming home. Instead of blaming the child, he quickly drew it with a brush.
Daughter Ah Bao is also cute and tight, taking her own shoes to put on the stool legs, while she only wears socks, and then proudly says "Ah Bao has two feet, and the stool has four feet." But the mother said, "Dirty socks!" For this reason, the creation was destroyed, both landscaped and barbaric.
Feng Zikai painted this picture in order to warn himself of not being a "barbaric" father.
Childhood is cute, but childhood always fades. So when he looked at the children outside the window, he sighed: I look forward to your life, more than once a day! I want to say it in a perverse way so that you know it for yourself. Unfortunately, by the time you understand My Word, you will no longer be the oneSure I can hope for. What a sad thing!
Therefore, he did his best to write down all this beauty, and the children in the painting were like insulators, forever retaining the innocent undertone, pure and flawless, temporarily isolated from the complex world.

In his heart, he persisted in pursuing simplicity and purity all his life. And it was the teachers he met who let him find this direction.
When he was 16 years old, when he first came to the Zhejiang Provincial First Normal School, he was still a shy and ignorant village teenager. The trepidation and uneasiness in my heart slowly dissipated after meeting the two teachers.
One is Li Shutong, a music and art teacher, and the other is Xia Junzun, a house supervisor and a Chinese language teacher. In Feng Zikai's eyes, one of them is like a father, and the other is like a mother. Uncle Li has a kind of prestige, and the students respect him. Xia Junzun took care of the students in every detail.
"Mother" Mr. Xia has always encouraged him to write essays and teach him step by step. The situation and poetry of literature are in the exchange, and a little bit of it has influenced him. "Daddy", Mr. Lee, had a deeper impact on him. Feng Zikai said, "Mr. Li's personality and learning have dominated my feelings. ”
So after graduation, he almost stepped on Mr. Li's footprints and started the next stop in his life. He traveled to Japan and came across the paintings of Takehisa Yumeji, and was attracted by these sketch-like small paintings. He bought it home, studied it carefully, and even simply began to imitate it.
The poetry in these paintings not only coincides with the pursuit in his heart, but also preserves his shy wallet. In addition to the extravagant Western oil paintings, these "small paintings" can also record the feelings of the heart.
Flipping through his paintings, many people jokingly said that "Feng Zikai paints no face", "no face" is "do not paint the facial features". Quite interesting about Chinese painting, the artistic technique of "not being able to realize the pen" leaves readers with a greater space for imagination.
In addition to the simplicity of the character's facial features, sometimes a few strokes can make people happy for the living, and sometimes the fine brushstrokes let us see his delicacy. This brushwork is unique and familiar, and the poetry of the pen end blends onto the paper, ethereal and pure.

In November 1927, Mr. Li Shutong converted to Buddhism and became a Master Hongyi. Feng Zikai was once again spiritually inspired, and continued to create with the teacher's "120,000 points of seriousness". In 1928, he decided to paint 50 paintings to celebrate the 50th birthday of Master Koichi.
Master Hongyi said: "The album should be a popular work of art, with a beautiful and soft mood, generating feelings of desolation and compassion. ”
The first part of the "Nursing Painting Collection" was born, and the nursing life is a thank you to the teacher and a reminder to yourself, remember to guard the life and soul on the drawing paper.
Many people have questioned whether his paintings are only innocent and poetic, is it a bit of a passive escape? In fact, he did not take a corner and built a high wall. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, his works were no longer gentle as water, and his cold brush began to paint bloody facts, giving readers a heavy blow to their hearts.

In 1932, he was forced to leave Shanghai and return to his hometown of Shimen Bay to build the Yuanyuan Hall. The world in the Yuanyuan Hall is idyllic, and the outside world is painful. He painted the suffering of the multitudes like his own friends.
After 1937, his hometown could not be left, and he fled with his wife and children all the way, and his hair was white at this time. Hearing that the Yuanyuan Hall had been blown up, he could only be silent.
The Yuanyuan Hall was gone, but his state of mind had become more vast and pure. "I have 100,000 pieces of sympathy for those who have fallen into the battlefield, and I wish I had a big ship that carried Shimen Bay and all the sentient beings in the world to a place of eternal peace."
In 1939, when the master was 60 years old, Feng Zikai composed the second episode of "Protective Paintings", a total of 60 paintings. There is no killing in the painting, only calm compassion. He transcended national hatred and cherished all life. Feng Zikai still looks forward to the harmony of mankind and the beauty of the future.
After receiving the paintings, Master Hongyi wrote to Feng Zikai, saying, "When the decadents were 70 years old, they asked the benevolent ones to make the third episode of the guardian paintings, a total of 70 paintings... At the age of 100, he composed the sixth episode, a total of 100 paintings. The merit of nursing painting is completed here. Although in 1942, the master died at the age of 63, Feng Zikai's brush still did not stop.

But this kind of kindness, which transcends everything, was not accepted by everyone, and when the Cultural Revolution came, he was drowned in a mountain of insults and tsunamis. In order to remember his mother, the beard that had been grown for thirty years was also forcibly cut off.
The work in the cowshed was tiring, but he still "reported good news and not bad news". Until he became ill and was allowed to go home by the doctor. He actually hoped to prolong the illness and get a longer rest, and even quietly threw away the medicine.
He was happy because he could finally paint. He did not dare to forget his reply to his teacher- "What Shishou promised, he will obey the instructions." Every day at four o'clock in the morning, he curled up on his cot to draw. The sons and daughters, worried about his body and the rebels outside, took away his paintbrush.
Feng Zikai begged the children, this will kill me, give me back!
Until 1973, the 100 paintings of the sixth episode were completed, when Feng Zikai was 75 years old.
Spreading out the "Nursing Life Painting Collection" one by one is forty-six years. The paintings are Feng Zikai's follow-up and long-distance vision of Master Hongyi, and it is also a testimony of his compassion.
A kind heart that continues the life of the old painter. He was beaten to the spring of 1975, but he did not wait for rehabilitation, nor did he see the full publication of the six episodes of the "Nursing Picture Collection".
In the last moments of his life, Feng Zikai's son and daughter were all at the bedside, and he could no longer speak. The children handed him paper and pen, and he shook his hands and drew some graphics, non-circles and non-squares — which became his masterpiece.
I don't know what Mr. Feng wanted to say at that moment. But perhaps, what he wanted to say was in the painting. In this life, I have seen the coldness of fate, but I have lived out my own temperature, not living up to the grace of my teacher and my own heart.
Why doesn't anyone dislike Feng Zikai's paintings?
I think it is because we all know that the world is difficult and bitter, but his paintings tell us that we might as well regard the human world as a game, and since there is nowhere to escape, it is better to live happily.
In one painting, he wrote a poem: "Matsuma Akatsuki looks like this." The Si people are far away, but just like this Matsuma bright moon, it is still gentle with the hearts of later generations...
