Unity and struggle are the most conspicuous spiritual symbol of the CPC and the Chinese people. General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that only political parties that can unite and struggle can be invincible. In the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, unity and struggle is a key word throughout the text, which is not only a summary of historical experience, but also a demand for future action. The CPC's consistent emphasis on unity and struggle is determined by the basic attributes of a Marxist political party. In the process of Sinicizing Marxism, the Marxist party's concept of unity and struggle has been continuously internalized into the political genes of Chinese communists.

Achieve a noble mission with unity and struggle

Marxist political parties were born in "world history," shouldered a great historical mission, and had a broad vision of world history. Unity and struggle is an inevitable requirement for Marxist political parties to realize lofty political ideals and political pursuits, and they have extremely high political "resolution".

From the perspective of materialist history, in the sustained development of social economy, realizing the free and comprehensive development of human beings is the lofty mission of communism, and the realization of this great cause of mankind requires close unity and unity to form a union of all mankind. The Communist Manifesto specifically addresses the actions of the Communists in united struggle, that is, "in the end, the Communists everywhere strive for unity and coordination among the democratic parties of the world" and the message "Proletarians of the world, unite!" "This deafening call.

It must be recognized that for Marx and Engels, united struggle does not stop at ideas, but the principles, conditions and concrete actions of the proletariat to achieve its goals. Marx and Engels believed that "joint action, at least the joint action of civilized countries, is one of the primary conditions for the emancipation of the proletariat." At the time of the founding of the First International, unity became a fundamental principle. As the organizer and leader of the First International, Marx made unity the basic principle of the revolutionary movement and emphasized: "If we can firmly consolidate this living principle among all workers in all countries, we will surely achieve the great goal to which we aspire". In the preface to the 1890 German edition of the Communist Manifesto, Engels emphasized that "the proletarians of the world are now truly united", referring here to the fact that at the founding congress of the Second International (the Paris Workers' Congress), the European and American proletariat "formed a large army, under one banner, for a recent purpose", demanded that the eight-hour working day be established in law and that May 1 be a holiday for the united struggle of the proletariat throughout the world. Obviously, in order to shoulder the great historical mission and liberate all mankind, we must not only pursue our own unity, but also unite all possible forces to fight together to the greatest extent. It can be clearly seen from the practice of Marx and Engels in the First International and the Second International that the Marxist political party unremittingly pursues unity and struggle for the great cause, and transforms this distinct political concept into the struggle strategy and struggle practice of "uniting".

As a Marxist political party, the Communist Party of China has always written unity and struggle clearly on its historical answers. In the early days of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the Declaration of the Second National Congress of the Communist Party of China issued by the Second National Congress of the Communist Party of China clearly pointed out, "We must fight together for the liberation of ourselves!" Workers and poor peasants must unite with the petty bourgeoisie under the banner of the Communist Party of China! "In the 100-year history of the Party's struggle, unifying thinking, strengthening unity and working together are a golden thread running through it, ensuring that our Party can achieve unprecedented cause with unprecedented unity and struggle at an important historical moment. On the new journey, whether it is the grand goal of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the arduous task of promoting Chinese-style modernization, or the various risks and challenges faced on the way forward, it is intrinsically required that under the leadership of the Party, the enthusiasm, initiative and creativity of the more than 1.4 billion Chinese people be fully stimulated and condensed, and the largest "concentric circle" should be drawn and continuously united and struggled.

Practice the mass view of history with unity and struggle

The masses of the people are the creators of history, and this is a basic thesis of the materialist view of history. It is precisely for this reason that in order to realize the interests of the masses, a Marxist political party must form a "greatest common divisor" and unite the masses of the people to the greatest extent possible to unite and struggle around the goal. Marx and Engels pointed out that all movements in the past were movements of a small number of people or for the interests of a small number of people, and emphasized that the movement of the proletariat was an independent movement of the overwhelming majority of the people and for the interests of the vast majority of the people. Marxist political parties have always stressed the importance of working together with the masses of the people to achieve a common cause, which is a profound embodiment of the masses' view of history. As the wheel of history rolls forward, the "association" formed by the masses of the people will surely become more and more extensive, and the spirit and will of unity and struggle will become more and more firm. This also profoundly shows that the historical view of the masses is the philosophical foundation of unity and struggle, and unity and struggle is a vivid practice under the historical view of the masses.

Unity and struggle are the only way for Chinese people to create great historical causes. For the Communist Party of China, serving the people wholeheartedly is the fundamental purpose of the Party, and upholding the supremacy of the people is a profound summary of the Party's historical experience over the past century. The Party represents the fundamental interests of the broadest masses of the Chinese people, does not have any special interests of its own, and never represents the interests of any interest group, any powerful group, or any privileged stratum. The people's will is the greatest politics, and under the role of the masses' view of history, the Communist Party of China has constantly transformed the goals and requirements of each stage into the unity and struggle of the Party and the masses of the people. In addition, to realize the interests of the masses in the flesh-and-blood ties formed between the Party and the masses of the people, it is necessary to unite the masses of the people around the Party as extensively as possible and form a vivid situation in which the Party and the masses are united, shoulder common responsibilities, work together in the same boat, and share weal and woe. Taking Chinese-style modernization as an example, the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China pointed out that an important feature of Chinese-style modernization is the modernization of common prosperity of all the people, which means that there are no "outsiders" when we advance towards the goal of Chinese-style modernization, and the Communist Party of China must constantly organize the masses in light of the new reality on the new journey, think in one place, work hard in one place, constantly struggle in the close unity formed by the party and the people, and move from victory to new victory.

Maintain the true color of politics with unity and struggle

Unity and struggle are the political character of a Marxist party and the political nature of a communist. The political genes of a Marxist political party in unity and struggle determine the basic compliance and requirements of unity and struggle, which is profoundly embodied in the vanguard nature of a Marxist political party.

Lenin combined Marx and Engels' theory on party building with the reality in Russia, created a new type of proletarian party, and put forward a whole set of theories on party building. Lenin's theory of party building attaches great importance to the unity of the party, inherits and develops the concept of unity and struggle of Marx and Engels, which is mainly embodied in two aspects: on the one hand, expressing the will of the vanguard with the unity and struggle of the party. On the other hand, Lenin emphasized the unity of the proletarian party through discipline, thereby guaranteeing the vanguard nature. For Marxist political parties, strict discipline is the guarantee for the realization of the party's tasks, and only under the constraints of political discipline can there be consistent political action.

On the new road to catch up for the examination, the Communist Party of China has always maintained a sober and firm determination in solving the unique problems of the big party, and unity and struggle are both the proper meaning of the problem and the key to solving the problem. The Communist Party of China has a clear banner, road, and goal for united struggle; it consciously consolidates and strengthens the unity of the party, the unity between the party and the people, and the great unity of the sons and daughters of China at home and abroad in the spirit of daring to struggle and being good at struggle, and constantly brings into play the advantages of the Marxist party as the vanguard of ideological unity, political unity, and unity of action. Every Chinese communist is a member of the vanguard, and we must soberly realize that the unity and unity of the Party is first and foremost political unity and unity, that the unity formed around a clear goal of struggle is the strongest unity, and that the struggle relying on close unity is the most powerful struggle.
