Increase knowledge丨apping of Chilean small plant mites to control strawberry red spiders

At present, it is the high incidence period of the greenhouse strawberry red spider, and the application of Chilean small plant mite to control the red spider can reduce the input of chemical pesticides, reduce the resistance of the red spider to pesticides, and at the same time have the characteristics of a long effective period of prevention and control, providing a new way for the production of green and organic strawberries. So, how to use the Chilean small plant mite in the greenhouse? Chilean mites are narrow-feeding, feeding on leaf mites. The use of this mite to control leaf mites has been successful. Large-scale mechanization is carried out in Various European and American countries and sold as a commodity.

1. Release period: Predatory mites should be released at the beginning of the occurrence of pest mites and when the density is low. The release effect is better when the area of red spider damage on the back of strawberry leaves is less than 1/4.

2. The amount and number of releases

When the occurrence of greenhouse pest mites is relatively mild (the number of mites per leaf ≤ 10 heads) and the distribution is even, 3,000 heads can be released per acre, and then replenished and released once in 10 to 15 days.

When the leaf mites in the shed occur in a dotted pattern, the density of leaf mites on the plant at the mouth of the shed or in the passage is usually greater than that of the plant on the inside of the shed, in this case, it can be released according to the predator mite: leaf mite is 1:30. Other areas where the occurrence is not serious can be reduced. After releasing predator mites, the effect should be continuously observed, and severe plants can be re-released after 1 to 2 weeks.

3. Release method

In greenhouse strawberries, it is mainly sprinkled with casting. Spread the Chilean mite evenly on the strawberry leaves together with the culture medium, and avoid agricultural operations as much as possible within 2 days to facilitate the transfer of predatory mites that fall on the ground to the plant.

4. Precautions

(1) Predatory mite products should be handled carefully and gently to avoid violent flipping and turning of the package.

(2) Predator mites are biological living organisms, not resistant to storage, should be used within 24h after purchase, and the product should be protected from light and placed flat under the conditions of 4 °C-7 °C when it is really necessary to store.

(3) Product transportation: during transportation, it should avoid sun exposure, and it should not be stored with harmful substances such as pesticides and fertilizers, and it should not be squeezed into packaging bags.
