In the morning, the reporter saw in the Gongqing Forest Park that the staff was plastering another batch of Metasequoia trees. The plasters are actually white bags, each containing 3,000 "California New Pig Mites" predatory mites, which are known as pest killers, a carnivorous mite that specializes in preying on harmful mites at various stages of development on trees and strangling them in their cradles.
Zhao Zhifang, an engineer at the Rongke Department of Gongqing Forest Park, said that the insecticide mite will slowly climb up along the branches, and it will climb to the top of the tree in about 10 days to half a month, during which it will look for prey on its own, mainly some pest mites, such as common red spiders, leaf mites, etc. According to plant experts, spring is the season when trees are most susceptible to disease, and many diseases are caused by pests.
Because these mites are so small that they cannot be seen by the naked eye, they often do not detect them until large outbreaks occur, but it is too late.
