"Wind and Rain River City" is a repertoire reserved by the Changning Shanghai Opera Troupe. The story takes place in the spring of 1948, when Tao Xinjie, commander of the Kuomintang Jiangcheng Garrison Regiment, was ordered to guard the River Bridge; Shen Xiang, an underground party member, according to the instructions of his superiors, cooperated with the guerrillas to blow up the River Bridge. Unexpectedly, due to the betrayal of traitors, Shen Xiang and his daughter Shen Ling were unfortunately arrested. "Let the actors be in the characters" is the requirement of Chen Suping, the head of the Changning Shanghai Opera Troupe and the main creator of "Wind and Rain River City", for the actors. She admitted that the performance of the heroic characters is not handled properly, it is easy to deviate, and it cannot attract the audience. So throughout the rehearsal, she helped the actors find the "hidden and great" spiritual temperament, "highlighting the sublimeness of the characters and the magnificent beauty of the tragedy".

In the play, Shen Xiang played by Zhang Yanwen, Tao Xinjie played by Huang Aizhong, Shen Ling played by Zhu Zhen, Liu Hongkun played by Wang Bin, etc. strive to overcome the traditional opera facial expression, highlighting the character and behavior logic of modern drama. Before rehearsing "Flying Over the Seventh Bridge", the New Dongyuan Shanghai Opera Troupe, led by the leader Shen Huiqin, began to prepare more than 3 months in advance, refining the script and preparing props. The crew specially went to the No. 7 Bridge Bunker and Qibao Old Street to gain an in-depth understanding of the historical background. The whole drama staff began to enter the fully enclosed rehearsal from May 15, singing one by one, one line after another, one action after another, and repeatedly cutting details. "Flying Over the Seventh Bridge" introduces characteristic tunes such as Yue opera, Beijing-Kunming and Pingtan on the basis of following the Shanghai opera singing voice and the story of emotional people. Based on the historical materials of Qibao Town and the "No. 7 Bridge" bunker, the drama tells the story of the Battle of The Battle of The Western Gate of Shanghai by outwitting the map of defense. Shen Huiqin plays Zhao Chunmei, a cotton cloth merchant, who alone sends a bunker layout map. In the whole series, Chen Yu, Li Jianhua, Wu Meiying and Gu Kai and other outstanding actors, written by Zhang Yu, directed by Lu Ang, and composed by Ru Jinshan, promote contradictions and conflicts with character psychological display. The last act gives full play to the means of freehand opera and presents Zhao Chunmei's mental journey in a virtual way of time and space. On July 20th, "Flying Over bridge no. 7" will also appear at poly Shanghai City Theater and tour various community cultural centers in Shanghai, praising heroes with nostalgia.
