In 1958, Li Guosheng, who had just entered the factory to join the work, signed up for the cross-talk training class held by the Central Radio Rap Troupe, and when he reported the performance, he performed very eye-catchingly, which was deeply appreciated and affirmed by the famous cross-talk actor Liu Baorui. After that, he studied stand-up comedy with Mr. Liu Baorui for three years, which laid a solid foundation for him to engage in cross-talk performance in the future.
In 1978, mr. Hou Baolin, a master of cross-talk, partnered Li Guosheng with his partner Guo Qiru when his partner Guo Qiru died and another partner, Guo Quanbao, was seriously ill. After that, the two collaborated on stage to perform cross-talk for two years, and this performance experience was rumored to be a good story in the cross-talk industry, and further improved the performance level of Li Guosheng.

Li Guosheng recalled the process of becoming a partner with Mr. Hou Baolin on the spot: one day Mr. Hou suddenly called Li Guosheng and said that he would give him a hug. Li Guosheng was a little nervous and took over the "job" with the encouragement of his master Luo Rongshou. Without prior wording, Li Guosheng completed the performance brilliantly and was recognized by Mr. Hou Baolin.
At the 1978 National Science and Technology Conference, Li Guosheng and Mr. Hou Baolin wanted to perform a new cross-talk, and the two practiced for 10 days. On the day of the performance, Mr. Hou Baolin suddenly said that he could not memorize the words, so he let Li Guosheng tease and he came to praise. In this way, the two exchanged words on the stage, and Li Guosheng passed Mr. Hou Baolin's "examination" with solid skills and was praised by Mr. Hou Baolin.

Li Guosheng praised Xiaolin for 25 years, because the two were separated after retirement, and then Li Guosheng cooperated with many cross-talk actors, and successively praised four generations of actors, becoming an uncompromising "green leaf".
