Since 1998, the couple has been stationed at a remote intersection fire checkpoint, and by 2008, they have taken root in the Wanghai Tower deep in the Forest Sea, and for 23 years, they have lived an almost isolated life. Because there are many forest rangers like them who silently stick to and pay, there has not been a single forest fire in Saihan Dam for 59 years.

"No matter how difficult the work is, someone has to do it"

At the top of the mountain beam, a wooden pole and three bungalows were the original appearance of the fire inspection station at the intersection of Saihanba.

There are no people in the ten miles of the square, one person is stationed for fear of danger, and the two people are stationed to make a contradiction, in 1998, the forest farm decided to set up a husband and wife fire checkpoint here.

At that time, Liu Jun, who had been engaged in fire prevention work in the forest farm for 6 years, was only 26 years old, and the child was just 3 years old. "I know it's not easy to do, but no matter how difficult the work is, someone has to do it." When the leaders of the forest farm were embarrassed by the selection of people, Liu Jun took the initiative to ask for help and stationed at the checkpoint with his wife Wang Juan.

Although the intersection checkpoint is remote, it is located at the intersection of two highways, and the traffic flow is not small. The work of the checkpoint is very boring, and every day is to check whether passing vehicles and pedestrians carry lighters, matches and other field fire tools. Every lifting and release of the pole is a safety education for forest protection and fire prevention: "Saihanba forest is not easy to come by, do not use open fire." ”

At the checkpoint, the hardest thing is the draft. There are no wells, and their domestic water depends on Liu Jun to pick up from the lower mountain streams. It was good to go downhill in the bucket of time and space, and when I returned, two buckets of water had to climb a dozen kilograms, and Liu Jun sweated step by step. In winter, snow roads are slippery, and wrestling with water is a common thing. One winter, when Liu Jun returned with water, he fell "face to the ground", and the bucket rolled down the hillside down the ditch. He got up and sat down in the snow, howling and crying. Back at the checkpoint, my wife saw him covered in mud, and tears of pain "brushed" down. The following spring, the couple gritted their teeth and paid for a donkey to carry water. Despite the difficulty of drafting water, whenever there are passing drivers and pedestrians begging for water to drink, the couple never refuses.

The days at the checkpoint were lonely, with no television, no radio, and a long time, a hut, two people sitting opposite each other, looking at each other wordlessly. The work is open all year round, and the child is sent to the grandmother's house from the day of birth. A few pictures of the child, the two mouths turned over and turned, looked and looked. Sometimes I think so hard that I cry against the wall. After crying, I still put in the meticulous and tiring fire inspection work.

On duty at the checkpoint, the beast poison insects do not mention, the most feared is to get sick. In the winter of 1999, when heavy snow fell, Wang Juan felt a pang of colic in her stomach from the afternoon. At first, she forcibly endured not telling Liu Jun, until the middle of the night, the pain was too much to insist on, which told her husband.

Heavy snow closed the mountain, and Liu Jun urgently asked the leader of the nearest North Mandean branch for help. The forest farm quickly dispatched a snowmobile to launch a lane in the shortest possible time, and the only four-wheel drive off-road vehicle in Jiangjiadian Township drove directly to the checkpoint and sent Wang Juan to the township health center, where the doctor diagnosed acute appendicitis. When the operation was done, it was already dawn, and the doctor said, "Half an hour later, the appendix will rupture." "With the conditions of the township health center at that time, it is difficult to say whether it can save your life."

Watching his wife fall asleep in the hospital bed, Liu Jun suddenly remembered that there was no one at the checkpoint and quickly went to the forest leader to reflect the situation. Knowing that the forest farm had arranged for people to be on duty, Liu Juncai breathed a sigh of relief. We all know that it is not easy for the couple, and there are many people in the township who come to visit Wang Juan. "It feels good to have someone talking!" Wang Juan recalled that the few days in the hospital were the happiest times after working at the checkpoint.

Looking at the forest sea, 13 years as a day

In the depths of the 1.15 million mu of forest sea in saihanba mechanical forest farm, there are 9 artificially guarded Wanghai towers, which are distributed at the highest altitude in different locations of the forest farm, always watching the "every move" of Lin Hai, they are Lin Hai's "sleepless eyes".

In 2008, after many years on duty at the fire checkpoint, liu jun and his wife came to Work as a ranger in Wanghai Lou in Xiaoguang Dingzi Mountain according to the arrangement of the forest farm.

The fire prevention period of Saihan Dam is divided into spring and autumn. The spring fire period is from March 15 to June 15, and the autumn fire period is from September 15 to November 15.

During the fire prevention period, Liu Jun and Wang Juan reported the forest area to the forest farm fire prevention headquarters every 15 minutes from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. and within 15 hours. From 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next morning, report the fire every hour, and if there is no fire, you should report peace. For 13 years, the couple took turns on duty, and they hardly slept a peaceful sleep on the Wanghai Tower.

The million acres of forest sea of Saihanba condense the painstaking efforts of three generations of Saihanba people, and each tree is not easy to come by. Especially during the fire prevention period, the nerves are tense every day. "Sometimes when I sleep, I dream where the fire rises, but the phone can't get out, and I wake up urgently." Wang Juan said.

Compared with the checkpoint, Wanghailou is located on the top of the mountain far from the inhabited mountain, not only the living area is small, but the various problems faced in life are beyond imagination.

The first is that it is difficult to draft water. Before 2015, the water on the Wanghai Tower was transported from the bottom of the mountain to the top of the mountain by fire truck, and then stored the water in a simple water cellar, and a car of water was eaten for a year. Later, the forest farm changed to sending water once during the spring and autumn fire prevention periods, and even so, they never dared to let go of the water. In addition to cooking, washing vegetables and mopping the floor are all made of snow water melted from the mountains. One year, while cleaning the water cellar, the couple found a swollen rat carcass, and the young couple suddenly became sad.

Electricity is also a problem. When I first went up the mountain, the Wanghai Building could only be illuminated by candles, and later, the forest farm installed a solar panel the size of a desktop on the roof of the building, and the Wanghai Building was electrified, but the bean lighting could only last for three or four hours. Many nights, they spent in the dark.

The inconvenience of transportation also bothers them. There are 20 kilometers from Xiaoguang Dingzi Mountain, where Wanghai Lou is located, to the nearest Jiangjiadian Township, all of which are difficult gravel roads. Liu Jun generally rides a motorcycle down the mountain every 10 days or so to purchase daily necessities, the fastest round trip is more than two hours, and the slow time takes four or five hours. In the winter, when the snow closes the mountain, things can only be sent to the beam, and then they themselves carry it from the beam to the mountain a little bit.

The minimum temperature in SaihanBa can reach minus 40 °C, and before 2015, Wanghai Tower used its own earthen stove to heat itself. One day in the winter of 2010, Wang Juan went down the mountain to run errands, leaving Liu Jun alone. That day, the north wind blew, soot poured into the house, and when Liu Jun found out, he was already dizzy and nauseous, and he was weak. "Broken, coal smoked (carbon monoxide poisoning)!" Liu Jun used his last strength to push open the window, stretched out his head and blew in the cold wind for nearly an hour, before he slowed down to report to the forest farm for help.

In Saihan Dam, people are most looking forward to snow in winter, and the most difficult thing is snow. It was snowing and the forest was relatively safe. But the snow closed the mountain, and the people on the mountain could not go down, and the people under the mountain could not come up. If you catch up with the mountain and cut off supplies, the days will be even more difficult.

One day in November 2018, Liu Jun drove down the mountain to purchase daily necessities, and as soon as he finished purchasing his belongings, the snow began to fall, and the more he went up the mountain, the more the snow fell. Seeing that the car could not drive up the mountain, at this time, wang juan was the only one left in the Wanghai Building. On the top of the mountain, the roaring white hair wind blew through the forest sea, making all kinds of terrible sounds. Wang Juan looked at the doors and windows over and over again, turned on all the lights in the room, looked at the report at a glance, and endured the torment for a minute and a second... Three days later, when she saw a car in the Wanghai Tower, her heart jumped out and ran to Liu Jun while shouting, "You're back!" You're back! ”

"Monotony, loneliness, loneliness, that feeling can only be known by those who have actually experienced it." Wang Juan said.

But the next spring, when the million acres of forest and sea in Saihanba became green again, they had no regrets about their efforts and perseverance.

"It is our greatest honor to grow up with this forest"

On August 26, looking down from the Moon Mountain, I saw that on the opposite side of the stony slope, a neatly arranged green sapling was arranged from the foot of the mountain, which was spectacular.

Liu Jun and Wang Juan told reporters that this is the most concentrated area in the afforestation area of SaihanBa in recent years, and each sapling is planted on the stony slope with thin soil layer and exposed rocks. "When they first came, the seedlings were only half a foot tall, and now you see, they are already more than a meter tall." This forest changes and grows up every year, and it is our greatest honor to grow up with this forest. Liu Jun and Wang Juan said happily.

Today's Wanghai Building, living conditions have been greatly improved, not only the problems of draft, heating, electricity have been solved, the couple can also watch TV and surf the Internet to get in touch with the outside world. But they are still accompanied by loneliness. Liu Jun said that he loved the CCTV news channel the most, and only in the news did he feel that he had not lost contact with the world. The TV in the house is turned on all year round, especially when he is on duty in the middle of the night, even if he does not watch, he also keeps the TV on, and feels that the figures on the TV are also companions.

When she was young, Wang Juan loved to laugh and love to shop and visit the door, but now she occasionally goes down the mountain, walks into the crowd, and finds that others chat and care about the content, and she can't understand it at all. Gradually, she became silent. In the interview, daughter Liu Wenqi said bluntly, "My parents have become 'stupid' in the mountains. ”

Due to the perennial garrison of the Wanghai Tower, the general gathering of friends, they are almost insulated. Marriages and funerals between relatives are also mostly absent. Their only daughter, at the age of 10, was picked up from her grandmother's house and sent to school in the paddock. Lookout upstairs can not leave people at any time, children can only go to boarding school. Whenever school is closed, they only have to let their children stay at school or go to the homes of friends and family. At her longest, my daughter didn't see her parents for nearly two years.

Today, my daughter has graduated from college and is working. Last year's Mid-Autumn Festival, my daughter went to WanghaiLou to spend the Mid-Autumn Festival with them, which made them feel happier than ever, and they could take care of this forest sea with peace of mind.

Over the years, Wanghailou has installed automated infrared monitoring and communication equipment, but no matter what era it is, no matter how much high technology is used, it cannot replace people's persistence. It is the persistence of a pair of "Wanghailou couples" like Liu Jun and his wife that have the peace of this million mu of forest sea, and this green water and green mountains can continuously bring jinshan yinshan.
