For a long time, Greece has not only been the favorite second status country for European and American billionaires, but also the favorite holiday destination for high-net-worth people. This year, there has also been a marked increase in interest in Greek tourism by Austrian tourists, ranking it as the most popular location.
According to the Hellenic Times of Cities, this conclusion comes from a surge in bookings (a 20% increase compared to last year), as well as estimates from travel agencies and tourist boards. The fact that Greece is becoming one of the favorite tourist destinations for Austrians is reflected not only in the large number of tourists visiting the Hellenic Republic, but also in the booking process during the Vienna International Travel Show 2023.
During the four days of the exhibition (from March 16 to March 19, 2023), the traffic exploded! Compared to the same period last year, a clear surge was recorded - an increase of 20%.

In addition, almost 6,000 pensioners are expected to travel to Halkidiki during the TO Senioren Reisen spring tour, which will take place from April to early May.
At the same time, the positive impact of destinations including Skyros, Lemnos, Sifnos and Thessaly is impressive, with weekly flights from the Austrian capital to Volos.
Austria is also the only country that offers direct flights to a total of 21 destinations in the Hellenic Republic: Athens, Thessaloniki/Halkidiki, Volos, Kavala, Skiathos, Previza, Corfu, Tianluo, Kefalonia, Arathos, Kalamata, Zakynthos, Rhodes, Karpathos, Kos, Samos, Mykonos, Limnos, Santorini, Heraklion and Chania.
Greece is constantly striving to expand and attract a large number of international tourists. In addition to tourists from Austria, the Hellenic Republic announced earlier this month that Greece is also one of the top five destinations for Germans to visit in the summer. Greece in 2023 can be said to be the top tourist destination in the world.
Data provided by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO) shows that Belgium and Germany have greatly increased their interest in visiting the Hellenic Republic.
