In January 2022, China's 21st medical team arrived in Djibouti, located on the west coast of the Gulf of Aden in northeast Africa, and began a 15-month medical mission at Bertiya Hospital in Djibouti. By the end of February 2023, the medical team had completed 14,658 outpatient visits, 576 emergency visits and 1,168 surgeries.
