A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck near The Indonesian province of Bengkulu

Jakarta, 3 Aug (Xinhua) -- A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck the waters near Benguru province in western Indonesia on the morning of 3 August, and there are no reports of casualties or property damage.

According to the website of the Indonesian Meteorological, Climatic and Geophysical Bureau, the earthquake occurred at 5:48 Jakarta time (6:48 Beijing time), and the epicenter was located 123 kilometers southwest of Mukomuco City in Bengulu Province, with a depth of 10 kilometers.

The emergency department of Muko Muko City said that when the earthquake was strong, many residents ran out of their homes in panic.

Indonesia is located in the Pacific Rim seismic belt, and thousands of earthquakes occur every year. In September 2018, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck Donggara County, Central Sulawesi Province, Indonesia, and triggered a tsunami that killed more than 2,000 people.
